SanDisk’s versatile Clip+ may have outranked Apple’s latest Shuffle in just about every practical sense, but it takes a special kind of player to oust the Cupertino giant in the style department. That said, we may have spotted a device that could do the job: iRiver’s new N20.
The handset and PMP uses Wi-Fi to make calls within the home, but lacks the cell receiver that would make it a real cell phone.
Iriver’s new Wave Home concept may have been the company’s showstealer at this year’s CES, but it wasn’t the only one to bear the new Wave label. The lesser-known Wave Internet Phone will run head-to-head with the iPod Touch by piling PDA-like features into a tiny, flexible device that’s lacks everything but a cell modem.
Computers are creeping into every corner of the home, and iRiver’s aptly named Wave Home is proof. It combines a VoIP phone, video conferencing, media streaming, Web surfing, alarms, calendars and a whole host of other features into a package that would look at home in the living room, kitchen or bedroom.

The user interface is a five-way controller encircled by a click scrollwheel. But arguably its best feature is a seriously sharp 2.2 inch smudge-resistant glossy display.
