Netropa Intros Two New Intellinav GPS Units

Netropa has introduced its new Intellinav 2 and Intellinav 3 portable GPS systems, the first pair in a four-product lineup the designed as follow-ups to the company’s All-in-One GPS introduced in 2006. The Intellinav 2 and 3 are designd to appeal to consumers and everyday GPS users with a slim, highly portable design and convenience features designed to make the systems an integral part of everyday life.

"Consumers who are just discovering the on-road benefits of GPS navigation want the most features at the best value," explained Michael Shiao, president of Netropa Corporation. "With the new Intellinav 2 and 3, we are meeting the needs of the value-conscious consumer through unique features that set Intellinav apart from the competition."

PayPal Adds Markets, Language Support

Online payment service—and eBay subsidiary—PayPal has announced it has expanded its reach to 87 new national markets, and had finally made its primary site available in three new languages. The new additions make PayPal available in 190 markets around the world.

As of today, users will also be able to access the main PayPal site—and all online transaction processes—in Spanish, French, or simplified Chinese. Users with Internet browsers configured to prefer any of those three languages will automatically be offered to view the site in their preferred language when they first visit the site.

CES 2006 Profile: Magellan/Thales

Thales Navigation announced a number of new Magellan branded GPS devices for handheld and auto usage at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in early January. Among the more interesting new products on display were the RoadMate 800, the RoadMate 760 and the eXplorist XL.

The RoadMate 800 is Magellan’s new flagship auto GPS device. This portable vehicle navigation system comes fully loaded with features such as a 3.5” color, touch screen display, integrated battery power, a music player and photo viewer. It delivers three-dimensional map views and comes preloaded with maps for all U.S. 50 states, Puerto Rico, Canada and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Other notables include USB 2.0 connectivity, a smart feature to detour around traffic and a trip computer for reviewing mileage and travel time.

Cruises To Offer Cell Phone Service

From AT&T’s press release:

In a first for the U.S. wireless industry, AT&T Wireless and Maritime Telecommunications Network announced today that cruise ship passengers may soon enjoy the convenience of using their wireless phones while at sea.

The companies have formed a joint venture, Wireless Maritime Services, to develop and launch an innovative and affordable communications offering that will rely on a combination of satellite and wireless services to provide the cruise line industry and its passengers with on-board wireless service. The joint venture will combine MTN’s expertise in providing satellite services to the cruise industry with AT&T Wireless’ expertise in delivering wireless services to consumer and business travelers. Financial terms were not disclosed.
