J-PHONE debuts J-SH53 by Sharp

The J-SH53 will be available in stores from May 22, making it the world’s first true megapixel-class mobile handset to be commercially available.

The J-SH53 will first be offered in a limited quantity of 300 at four directly-owned J-PHONE shops (J-PHONE Shop Yaesu Kitaguchi, Vodafone Yokohama the Diamond, J-PHONE Shop Chiba Chuo, J-PHONE Shop Omiya Chuo) in the Tokyo metropolitan area. From May 27, sales will commence in the Kanto-Koshin area and then be extended nationwide.

J-Phone announces new J-SH video phone

Scheduled to go on sale after late May 2003, the J-SH53 is also Movie Sha-mail (video messaging) compatible.

With its state-of-the-art 1 million effective pixel “Megapixel CCD Mobile Camera”, the J-SH53 can take pictures in resolutions of up to 1144 x 858 dots for high quality prints. The handset also comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA*1 “System LCD” display for unsurpassed screen quality and resolution.

The J-SH53 features expanded “Super Mail” capabilities, making it possible to send MPEG-4*2 compatible video messages (Movie Sha-mail) of up to 10 seconds in length and pictures (Sha-mail) taken in wallpaper mode (QVGA size). Gaming enthusiasts will also appreciate the J-SH53’s expanded Javaâ„¢ application storage capacity, the industry’s largest at 256 kilobytes, for true 3D mobile gaming.
