Anti-Cheating Software Coming To Sony PS2

IT GlobalSecure, Inc., a provider of advanced game security products, including SecurePlay(TM), and game engineering services, has announced that it has joined the Sony ComputerEntertainment Inc., (SCEI) PlayStation(R)2 Tools & Middleware Program. IT GlobalSecure’s SecurePlay software is the only product on the market today that actually allows game developers toprevent many forms of game cheating.

“By entering this program, IT GlobalSecure, Inc. further expands our ability to provide games with a secure, cheat-proof game infrastructure,” states Cheryl Campbell, President of IT GlobalSecure. “We are very pleased to be able to bring SecurePlay to SCEI’s PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system.”

Nokia, Vodafone Push For Java Standards

“The initiative has received support from competitors, including Orange, Siemens, Sony Ericsson, Sun Microsystems and T-Mobile International.

Vodafone and Nokia said others would become members of the expert group for the specifications being created for the open unified mobile Java architecture.

The plans have the backing of the J2ME Executive Committee and are based on two Java specification requests, one for lower-end devices (based on CLDC specifications) and another for higher-end phones and smart phones used by professionals (with CDC platform specifications). “

palmOne Java to Treo 600 Smartphone

palmOne, Inc.  today announced the latest release of a developer toolkit that brings Java 2 Micro Edition support to Treo 600 smartphones and Tungsten handhelds, which significantly expands thecapabilities of its product lines for business customers and developers. A beta of the new version of IBM’s WebSphere Micro Environment Toolkit for Palm OS(R) Developers, which includes a newhigh-performance runtime with support for the latest Java Community Process standards, was released to developers today through the palmOne PluggedIn developer website.

The toolkit enables developers to target, deploy, and execute their Java MIDlet applications on palmOne devices, directly alongside native Palm OS applications. The early-access release allows software developers to design and test applications that utilize the new standards support and other capabilities in advance of the end-user runtime release next spring. With support for both the Treo 600 smartphone and the Tungsten line of handhelds, compelling, standards-based applications and solutions can now be deployed in a consistent way to mobile workforces and consumers alike.
