JibJab Goes Nuckin’ Futs

Online comedy studio JibJab is keeping up their end of year tradition, releasing a new online parody “Nuckin’ Futs,” summarizing and satirizing American culture in 2006. Set to the well-known “Jingle Bells” melody, the spoof features a chorus of school children singing about public figures like Britney Spears, Donald Rumsfeld, Lance Bass, and Mel Gibson, as well as international figures like Saddam Hussein and Fidel Castro.

The video appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Tuesday, December 12, and went live on both JibJab.com and MSNVideo.com. It’s the eighth JibJab video to premiere on the Tonight Show.

NBC To Promote Shows on YouTube

NBC has announced a strategic partnership with video-sharing site YouTube to highlight clips and promos from upcoming and classic NBC shows on the YouTube site. Selections might include clips from shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Saturday Night Live, behind-the-scenes footage, Internet-exclusive material, as well as a contest (running June 26 to July 21) for fans of NBC show The Office to create their own 20-second promotional videos.

Comcast Adds NBC Shows to Video-on-Demand

Cable operator Comcastannounced today it has struck a deal with NBC to offer television programming from NBC’s broadcast and cable networks via Comcast’s On Demand service beginning in May, 2006, at prices lower than those for the same programming for sale via Apple’s iTunes Music Store.

NBC prime-time programming will be available to Comcast video-on-demand customers for $0.99 per episode as early as midnight following the program’s original broadcast, while NBC’s late-night, daytime, and cable-based shows will be available at no additional charge. On Demand users can play, fast-forward, rewind, pause and restart their choices as many times as they want for up to 24 hours after being selected. Comcast hasn’t announced whether the programming will br presented commercial-free; episodes of the same NBC programming available via iTunes have no commercials.

NBC Offers Swath of TV Shows via iTunes

From “must-see TV” to “must-see on iPod,”: Apple Computer and NBC Universal announced today that NBC is making an broad swath of television programming available for download via Apple’s increasingly mis-named iTunes Music Store for $1.99 per episode. Apple says it’s sold more than 3 million videos since it began offering video downloads in via iTunes October 12; the agreement with NBC expands iTunes’s TV offerings from five to sixteen shows. The new shows are available today in newly-created areas of the iTunes store specific to the NBC brands.
