But SmartLabs is introducing something that canexponentially increase the power of the remote in your hand.   IRLInc, debuted at CES, is a plug-in interface that allows remote control of INSTEON-compatible (Infrared-to-INSTEON Translator) lighting and appliances using almost any universal home theater remote control.   IRLInc is compatible withdozens of codes in most universal remotes and receives IR commands from a universal home theater remote through a wide-angle sensor that can be placed on top of the TV or DVR.The brains of the systemare in a plug-in module that transmits the INSTEON signal onto the electrical wires of the home.   "If you’re one of those people who wants one remote for everything, IRLinc is a perfectfit," said Laurie Maroni, SmartLabs VP, Marketing.
