It’s All White Now: eMachines Debuts Low Cost, Small Form Factor PCs

eMachines has introduced a new EL1300 series of small form factor PCs that feature glossy all-white casings, user-friendly designs, and pricetags that may appeal to recession-wary consumers. The company has also introduced a new desktop PC monitor with a matching white design so users can get a complete PC system with a contemporary look without breaking their budgets.

“Alternative color choices have been making their way into notebook lines for some time now,” said eMachines desktop products senior manager Glenn Jystad, in a statement. “With the arrival of spring and summer, it’s the perfect time to introduce a fresh, clean alternative color choice to our desktops and monitors, bringing an exciting new look and feel to desktop PCs.”

Facing heightened competition, pressure from vendors, a severely troubled economy, and, some say, problematic management that refused to adapt to the times, the company did what it could in the following few months to stave off eradication. But despite its best efforts, Circuit City permanently closed its remaining 567 retail outlets on March 8, 2009, sending a total of 34,000 former employees into the jobless ranks.

US Modular Gives HDs High Tech Look

US Modular, a maker of data storage products, yesterday said they had come up with a new look for their Monster and Dragon Drive mini hard drives. The redesigned drives, sporting a high tech stainless steel look, will be available in December for prices ranging from $99 to $399.

The storage space on the Monster and Dragon Drives, US Modular said, ranges from two to 120GB of storage. The palm sized external hard drives have an onboard USB 2.0 port to connect to a host computer and are both Mac and PC compatible.
