Lenovo Replaces X300 with X301

Lenovo Replaces X300 with X301

It seems like just yesterday Lenovo announced its MacBook-Air-slaying X300 ultralight laptop – in fact that was just February. Even still, Lenovo has managed to click the model number ahead just six months later with the introduction of the X301, a newer, faster variant of the machine.

The biggest change to the new machine will be the processor at its heart: Lenovo has moved from an Intel Centrino to an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV (ultra-low voltage) which will be clocked at 1.2GHz or 1.4GHz.  Other upgrades include a choice of up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM, new 80GB or 128GB solid-state drives, and support for DisplayPort.

HP Unloads Slew of New Desktop Products

HP took the bulk approach to new product announcements on Monday by launching three new customizable PCs, a digital storage device, a monitor, and a webcam, all at once.

The three new customizable PCs include an entertainment machine, mid-priced green machine, and budget machine. The HP Pavilion Elite m9200t, starting at $799, offers Intel Core 2 Duo processors up to 3.0 GHz along with a handful of other premium options such as up to 1TB hard drives, and an optional Blu-Ray burner. The Pavilion a6460t, which runs for $549 and up, gets Energy Star certification and an 80 Plus power supply to cut energy use, but can still pack an Intel Core 2 Quad processor under the hood, along with an optional TV tuner for media use. Finally, the Pavilion a6400z sells for only $299 in its base configuration, but still includes a 1.8GHz AMD Dual-Core processor, Nvidia GeForce 6150 graphics card, 1GB memory and 250GB hard drive.

Dell Fleshes Out XPS Lineup with XPS 630

After weeks of attempting to build mystique for its new XPS 630 gaming rig with an incredibly uninformative teaser page, Dell finally dropped the curtain on its new machine on Tuesday, revealing a mid-range gaming PC.

XPS 630 machines will come with beefy 750 watt power supplies, ATX cases with connections for the new ESA system monitoring standard, and the same LightFX external LED lighting technology that went into the XPS 720. Intel CPUs and Corsair memory will be standard, although builders will get a choice of either ATI or Nvidia cards in the graphics department. AGEIA PhysX cards will also be optional, along with Blu-ray drives and up to three factory-installed hard drives. The $1,299 specially configured XPS 630 comes with an Inte Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor, and dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB graphics cards.

The Incredible Machine Goes Mobile

The Incredible Machine Goes Mobile

Pipes, light switches, lasers, blimps and candles will all make their return to perform bizarre tasks in the latest iteration of The Incredible Machine. Sierra Entertainment’s creative brain-teaser breakout from the 1990’s makes its return on mobile phones, this time developed by Vivendi Games Mobile.

The Incredible Machine franchise challenges players to use an odd assortment of everyday items to achieve a certain task, such as lighting a light bulb or popping a balloon. By arranging the items in different ways on screen, then setting their “Rube Goldberg” contraptions into motion, players figure out through trial and error how to reach the end goal. The mobile version of the game includes 60 different household objects to play with across 60 levels, plus 20 unlockable bonus levels.

Xbox 360 Name and Design Details Confirmed

“The name of Xbox’s successor is Xbox 360, we can confirm, and the design of the machine is indeed a concave shape.

The machine can stand upright and hollows in at the middle, like it’s “sucking in its cheeks,” our source told us today. Previous rumours had put the console as light silver, although fresh information says the final design may be white. It’s impossible to tell from the documents, our source explained – although the glimpse of the machine’s controllers given on viral marketing website OurColony does suggest a platinum-white colour scheme for the hardware.”

NeuNeo HVD108 HD DVD Player Review

Quote from the review at Future Looks:

“The HVD-108 is a great player to consider if you were an early adopter and bought a HDTV that only has Component Video Inputs. It allows you to improve the quality of all your old DVD’s and make them pretty much new again with the increased quality of the High Definition conversion process. Since most new HD Upconverting DVD players only work with DVI, the HVD-108 is on a very short list of players to consider.

Samsung SCX-4216F Printer Review

Quote from the review at Tweaknews:

“When I am in the market for an office machine, the one main factor I consider paramount is dependability. Throughout the 3 month testing time period as my main office fax/copying/scanning/printing machine, the unit never failed once. No jamming, no screwed up print jobs, no failed fax transmissions, nothing. The machine performed perfectly. ”

Sony takes PS2 to China despite pirates

The machine, which debuted in Japan in early 2000 and the United States in late 2001, will hit Chinese shelves on December 20 with a price tag of 1,988 yuan ($240). That compares to $179 in the United States.

“We have to realize the reality, that piracy cannot be controlled 100 percent, not only in China but also in other parts of the world,” Sony China Chairman Hiroshi Shoda told reporters Friday in an upscale Beijing cinema. “We have to be courageous, to face the reality.” He declined to give sales projections.

Samsung debuts multi-function laser printer

The machines have been designed to be as compact as possible, and the paper input/output is completely self-contained for saving even more space. Thus, the all–in–one machine will occupy no more space than a simple laser printer does, a major advantage in a small office.
