Maingear Shifts High Performance Computing into Gear

Boutique computer maker Maingear has introduced its new high-performance desktop system dubbed the Shift—where where other high-performance PCs aimed at gamers and enthusiasts pack a ton of bling and pretty colors, the Shift is defined by an austere monolithic look that packs a ton of horsepower and expandability. Maingear is positioning the Shift as a premier system to leverage the power of GPUs in everyday computing, whether that be transcoding video, editing photos, or (gasp) even just playing games.

“The Shift bucks the trend of plastic, bloated, commodity PCs,” said Maingear CEO Wallace Santos, in a statement. “It’s a statement of our commitment to performance, reliability, and support.”

Maingear Claims Most Powerful Gamer Notebook

Custom PC maker Maingear has unwrapped its new eX-L 18 notebook computer system…and claims it’s the most powerful gaming or desktop replacement rig on the planet. Leaving aside debate about what really constitutes a powerful system, there’s no denying the eX-L 18 brings the heat, sporting dual Nvidia GPUs with SLI, up to a 2.53 GHz Core 2 Extreme quad core processor, and a mammoth 18.4-inch LCD display with a native 1,920 by 1,080 resolution—plus capacity for heaps of RAM and storage.

Maingear Dash Review

Summary

Good news, FPS addicts… There’s no need to worry if funds are tight, as custom computer builder Maingear has developed the Dash PC as a low-cost alternative to its boutique gaming rigs, albeit with the same attention to detail and unique design that are the hallmarks of a personalized machine. The thinking being, of course, that if you are a gamer and like Maingear, but can’t afford one of the provider’s higher-end systems, when your friends and family need a recommendation, you’ll tell them to pick this puppy up. Happily, we concur that this’d be a wise choice, considering the machine’s general level of elegance, craftsmanship and performance. Granted, the system’s manual needs updating and some more detailed upgrade instructions would help. But overall, it’s an excellent machine, especially when you take into account the unit’s cut-rate price.

Maingear Aims Mainstream with Dash PC

Boutique computer maker Maingear has announced the immediate availability of its new Dash Friends and Family PC. Just in time for the end-of-year holiday buying season, the Dash hopes to bring the performance and high quality of a smaller computer maker to everyday computer users at a price which can compare with the biggest PC manufacturers. And, unlike those big computer manufactures, Maingear is certifying each system is free of bloatware and spyware.
