eMachines launched the T2824, the T2958, and the T3092, all priced at less than $600. All three machines are designed for consumers wishing to purchase a cheaper alternative than higher-priced, more powerful PCs, such as a computer for the den, or a new PC for a student heading off to college.

At $399.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, the eMachines T2824 ships with an Intel Celeron D 325 processors, 256 Mbytes of RAM, a 40-Gbyte hard drive, a combo CD/DVD burner, and the memory-card reader.

Antec’s Aria Computer Enclosure

Quote from the review at The Tech Report:

“SMALL FORM FACTOR PCs are all the rage these days, and for good reason. Running a high-performance system inside a toaster-sized enclosure is a tantalizing prospect for LAN party regulars, users looking for a less obtrusive desktop or home theater system, and PC enthusiasts who are looking to ride the bleeding edge of the latest trend.

Although the portability and performance of small form factor systems like Shuttle’s XPCs can’t be denied, the diminutive cubes aren’t perfect. For starters, the majority of small form factor systems offer only one PCI slot. Most users probably won’t feel restricted by a single PCI slot, but anyone looking to run a 24-bit audio card alongside a PCI-based TV tuner or Wi-Fi card need not apply.

MSI Mega180 SFF PC Review

Quote from the review at T-Break:

“Just like the previous model, the Optical drive sits on top and is hidden through a retractable cover making the overall look of the Mega180 more like an entertainment unit than a PC. The LCD has also gone through major changes. Instead of an orange background with a black display, MSI goes for a black background and a multi-color display which matches the unit’s look real well. The navigation buttons on the Mega180 are placed below the LCD which is also better then placing them next to the navigation Shuttle like the previous model.

Lite-On LVD 2001 review

Quote from the review:

“After hearing the readers of my original review rant and rave about me not stressing and testing the MPEG-4 playback, I decided to re-do parts of the review, which should be apparent if you read the original. I’ve tested out MPEG-4 playback quite a bit, and I found it to be nothing short of excellent. It works like advertised, and provides an amazing level of convienence to those people who download many DivX videos. Instead of having to waste hours of their time per movie to convert the file into the right format, all they need to do is burn it to a CD. It’ll then be ready for watching.
