SanDisk is looking to re-assert itself in the holiday gift-giving market for portable music players with the updated Sansa Clip+ portable media player, which looks to solve the problem of limited on-board storage and needing to sideload from a computer to swap out tunes by adding a microSD slot. Now users can swap music libraries on the fly with the same aplomb they’d use popping new media into a digital camera…and, conveniently, the microSD slot also supports SanDisk’s slotMusic and slotRadio cards, pre-loaded with music.

How to Choose the Right HDTV Television
High-definition television: Why bother? Surely HDTV is a plaything for the rich and self-indulgent, some cryptic form of digital television designed for Freemasons, just one more ridiculously overhyped and overpriced technology aimed at parting care-worn folk from their hard-earned cash. Right?
Wrong. The analog television standard we’ve been using since just after World War II is ludicrously obsolete. It was designed for round-cornered five-inch pictures that were mere portholes compared to the big screens that today’s home theater buffs demand. Trying to build a home theater system around 1948-vintage technology is like riding a horse in the slow lane.
Sanyo’s Hard Drive Based Voice Recorder
The Sanyo HDR-B5GM voice recorder features a 1-inch 5GB hard drive from Seagate and is capable of recording 693 hours in its’ lowest compression format. The HDR-B5GM can also double as an MP3 player supporting MP3 and WMA audio formats. There is also an SD memory card slot located on the unit.
“Sanyo draws a distinction between music players and voice recorders, which it says have built-in microphones, speakers, and a microphone input socket, and is claiming a world first with the HDR-B5GM. It will go on sale in Japan in early March and will cost around Â¥53,000 ($507). Sanyo will sell the HDR-B5GM overseas, although no plans have been set.”
Audiovox SMT 5600 Review
Quote from the review:
“I admit I was extremely skeptical of the SPV C500 given my poor experiences with past SPV devices. However I’m happy to say that I was blown away by how good the C500 is. It is extremely small, yet has a display that is bigger than the Motorola MPx220’s, has good RF performance and sound quality. Did I mention the SPV C500 is so small you wouldn’t know it’s a smart phone if you didn’t turn the display on? If you spend a lot of time in North America, you should take a look at the Audiovox SMT 5600 which is virtually identical with the exception of GSM 850 support. I’m also a little disappointed with the ridiculous navigation pad, lack of a megapixel camera, internal memory card slot and no EDGE support. However the C500 is just so amazing I can live without those features for now.”

iRock 730i MP3 player review
Quote from the review at Hardware Extreme:
“It comes complete with 128mb of built in memory which is enough to store a few hours of music. The player is light and you can take it virtually anywhere. You can easily wear it while jogging or listen to it while working out. If you go beyond the limits the player is easily expandable and includes a smart media memory card slot. You can add up to 128mb of additional memory to the player. There are a few ways to transfer music to the player. You can either do it using iRock’s software or you can do it with the custom MusicMatch software made for the iRock. “
