Maxtor Fusion 500GB Home Media Hub

Although its consumption by drive-maker Seagate has just been completed, Maxtor is quietly rolling out its Maxtor Fusion personal media hub, which combines the concepts of network-attached storage (NAS) with personal media servers to act as a central media repository on your home network for your photos, music, and videos.

Based in part on technology developed by Fabrik (co-founded by former Maxtor honcho Mike Cordano), the Maxtor Fusion doesn’t look a whoel lot different from the company’s OneTouch backup drives

Maxtor To Power Toshiba Recorder

The RD-XS43 features a Maxtor QuickView 250GB hard disk drive that, according to Toshiba, allows users to enjoy up to 445 hours of digital recording. The new recorder also carries the QuickView logoon the front panel of the unit to reflect the level and standard of quality the consumer will experience.

JVC Teams Up WIth Maxtor For Recorders

Maxtor Corporation announced today that Victor Company of Japan Ltd (JVC) has selected Maxtor QuickView consumer electronics (CE) hard disk drives for its new DR-MH30 and DR-MH50 HDD & DVD recorders. The JVC DR-MH30 incorporates a Maxtor 160GB QuickView hard disk drive and provides up to 143 hours of standard definition video recording. The JVC DR-MH50 includes a Maxtor 250GB QuickView hard drive and offers up to 225 hours of standard definition video recording.  Read more...

Maxtor, Linksys Join For Networked Storage

Maxtor and Linksys are teaming up to offer a network storage solution, pairing Maxtor’s external USB hard drives with the new Linksys Storage Link.

The small network appliance connects up to two USB 2.0 hard drives directly to an Ethernet network. The device will also accept USB flash drives. The Network Storage Link can also be set up so that storage devices are accessible from the Internet and it features a built-in backup program to schedule full, incremental, or synchronization backups of network drives.

The Network Storage Link features built-in disk utilities, accessible through a web browser. Users can format new disk drives, and scan drives for errors. The device can also send an email message when a hard drive gets nearly full, completely full, or has an error.  Read more...

JVC to use Maxtor HDD in new DVD recorder

The new JVC DR-MH5 HDD & DVD recorder incorporates a Maxtor 120GB QuickView CE hard disk drive. The drive provides approximately 120 hours of video recording and has the ability to record twoprograms simultaneously.
