Pentax has finally taken the wraps of its Pentax K-7 DSLR camera, which looks to be a leap forward for Pentax’s DSLR family and a serious competitor to the likes of the Canon EOS 50D and the Nikon D300. The K-7 offers a 14.6 megapixel resolution, a 3-inch live preview LCD display, image stabilization, and a high-dynamic range image mode that captures three images then combines them in-camera to widen the overall exposure gamut. What’s more, the K-7 shoots video at 1,280 by 720, 1,536 by 1024, or 640 by 416, all at 30 frames per second…and it does it all with a camera body that’s downright tiny compared to most other DSLRs in its class.

Pentax Adds Two Digital Cameras
Pentax yesterday introduced two new digital SLR cameras, one of which has special shake reduction technology to deliver higher quality pictures. The new K100D ($699.95) and K110D ($599.95) will be available in July and August respectively.
The Pentax K100D, the company said, has a special mechanism oscillating the CCD image sensor vertically and horizontally at high speed using magnetic force, while adjusting the speed of oscillation in proportion to the amount of camera shake detected by a built-in sensor. Both this camera and the non-shake reduction K110D have 6.1 effective megapixels and ship with smc 18-55mm lenses.

Pentax Updates Optio Line of Cameras
The Pentax Optio S6 digital camera features 6.0 megapixels, an innovative powerful 3X zoom Sliding Lens system, and the slim dimension of just 7/10 of an inch thick.
“Slim is still in, and the Optio S6 offers the slimmest Pentax digital body available,” said Ned Bunnell, director of marketing, Pentax Imaging Company. “Pentax continues to pack features into the stylish Optio S series and preserve the slim, tiny design that makes these cameras small enough to fit into a breath mint tin,” added Bunnell.
