Oppo Digital built its reputation on upscaling DVD players that offer high quality image processing and output at prices that didn’t require customers to be card-carrying Home Cinematiphiles or take out second mortgages on their homes just because they liked movies. Last year, the company announced it would be bringing its savvy to Blu-ray players, and Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray Disc Player is now finally available, offering high-end Blu-ray performance for a $500 price tag.

Oppo BDP-83 Review
Summary
The Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray disc player supports online content with BonusView and BD-Live. The Blu-ray format provides the best video and audio quality currently on the market. The BDP-83 has the ability to playback both DVD-Audio and SACD discs and also up converts standard definition to close to HD quality.
Other notable features include multiple zoom modes, full HD 1080p output, true 24p video, and Anchor Bay’s VRS technology that delivers a cleaner, smoother picture.

Conventional wisdom says that a consumer electronic product from a “brand name” will be superior to that from a small company, So you wouldn’t expect better video or premium features to be found on Oppo Digital’s DV-981HD DVD player – which retails for $229 USD and is sold over the Internet. Oppo Digital looks to have stolen a page from the design book of Apple in their stylish new LT-2007.There’s no computer housed in this bad boy however – instead you get a 20” LCD/DVD player combo loaded with features and priced at $599. The Oppo Digital LT-2007 comes in aslim translucent case which makes this LCD TV look reminiscent of Apple displays from a few years back. The LCD portion of this unit is measured at 20.1 inches, with overall measurements and weightbeing 20-3/8” x 20” x 8” and 26.4lbs respectively. These dimensions make the LT-2007 ideal for small viewing spaces such as a dorm room or kitchen. And there’s even a cradleon the backside to slide in the included remote control when not in use. On the television side of things, the LT-2007 offers quite a lot for such a compact form factor. For starters, the EDTVTFT flat panel screen can be tilted to offer multiple viewing angles. It has built-in a 181-channel NTSC tuner with automatic station scanning and fine tuning. Heaped on top of these items aretechnical aspects like 800 x 600 pixel resolution, 500:1 contrast ratio, 4:3 aspect ratio, MTS/SAP decoding, two built-in 3 watt speakers and a digital 3D comb filter.
The LT-2007’s DVD player is built into the base and is a slot loading design. It offersprogressive scan and digital connectivity for what Oppo Digital describes is the best picture quality possible. A wide variety of DVD and CD disc formats are supported as well, including DVD-Video,DivX video format, XviD, Audio CD, HDCD, WMA, Kodak Picture CD, CD-R/CD-RW, DVD-R/DVD-RW, and DVD+R/DVD+RW. The LT-2007 is also capable of outputting Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound via adigital audio output connection. Speaking of connections, the backside of the LT-2007 is quite loaded with input and output options to support functions like displaying digital photos, playingvideo games or enjoying the system as part of a larger home entertainment package. On the input side you get component video, S-video, composite video, VGA, stereo audio and USB, while on the outputside you have headphones as well as the previously mentioned digital audio (coaxial). The Oppo Digital LT-2007 includes a user manual, remote control, power adapter, VGA cable, A/V cable,stereo audio cable, coaxial digital audio cable, USB cable and 5-in-1 USB memory card reader which supports SecureDigital, MultiMedia Card, Memory Stick, SmartMedia and CompactFlash memory cards.
