Panasonic has introduced three new models in its Lumix camera lineup, the full-size Lumix FZ35 and two new compact point-and-shoot cameras, the Lumix FP8 and the Lumix ZR1. The cameras are designed to appeal to a broad range of consumer photographers, from folks who want substantial zooming capabilities and HD video to folks most concerned about putting a camera discretely in a bag or pocket.

1) Erector Spykee Spy Robot, $300
Canon has introduced its new XH A1S and XH G1S video camcorders, aimed at the prosumer and videographer market rather than directly at everyday consumers’ pocketbooks. The HD units record video to HDV tapes, offer optical image stabilization, and offer a 20× manual zoom that can operate simultaneously in manual or autofocus mode, giving video creators a high degree of control over their shots.
Sony Electronics today announced a new selection of Cyber-shot digital cameras, one set designed to appeal to to the fashion-conscious point-and-shoot crowd, and another offering advanced features and a whopping 15×optical zoom for more demanding photographers.
Not to be left out of the pre-PMA hype, FujiFilm today announced three new FinePix cameras sure to appeal to first-time digital photographers as well as experienced snappers looking for advanced features at a checkbook-friendly price.
Panasonic has announced a slew of new models for its Lumix digital camera line, adding features sure to appeal to first-time and casual picture-snapper as well as powerful capabilities, big optical zooms, and technical hutzpah at the high end to keep photo enthusiasts happy.
Advanced features include a high-performance Leica Dicomar lens, 12x optical zoom and 700x digital zoom(2), optical image stabilization and much more.
The PV-GS400, available in August, boasts an MSRP* of $1499.95 — a new breakthrough in pricing* for a 3CCD camcorder of this caliber.
“The new PV-GS400 is the only 3CCD digital camcorder to incorporate a 4-megapixel still camera — the highest resolution of any consumer camcorder on the market,” said Rudolf Vitti, National Marketing Manager, Panasonic Optical Group. “For the first time, there’s a camcorder to meet the pro-sumer’s demand for the most advanced digital imaging technologies and top-of-the-line features for both video and still image recording.”
Everyone wants one. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, colors and cases. Most let you listen to music, some allow you to watch video and a few are even wireless. They’re one of the most popular consumer electronics products out there and a computer company named Apple is the current industry leader. We are of course referring to the mighty digital audio or MP3 player.
Since their introduction in the late ‘90s, digital audio players have become one of the run away successes of portable electronics. 2003 sales figures, according to the Consumer Electronics Association, were a staggering $556 million, which was a 171 percent increase over the previous year. More importantly, the CEA projects this revenue will grow by another 27 percent this year.
