Panasonic has announced a slew of new models for its Lumix digital camera line, adding features sure to appeal to first-time and casual picture-snapper as well as powerful capabilities, big optical zooms, and technical hutzpah at the high end to keep photo enthusiasts happy.

NVIDIA Pushes Vista to a Whole ?Nother Level
Earlier today I had the honor of attending the Nvidia launch of their flaming hot GeForce 8800 GPU and nForce 600 MCP. While the performance of these new products is stunning (you can get benchmarks from other articles) what I want to share is the experience of the launch event itself.
While most of you won’t be able to get the operating system until next year, those of us in the analyst community are already receiving systems and let me tell you, the visuals on the right hardware are impressive. But this isn’t really about that either, its about a blockbuster event and we don’t get that many in this industry so let me try to give you a feel for what this was like.
New Panasonic Digitals Get 12X Optical Zoom

Panasonic introduces the first digital cameras to combine 12x optical zoom with an optical image stabilizer. Integrating unrivalled optical and digital technologies with ergonomic design, Panasonic’s three new 12x zoom Lumix models achieve a level of performance never before seen in digital cameras. New models DMC-FZ3 (3-Megapixel), DMC-FZ15 (4-Megapixel) and DMC-FZ20 (5-Megapixel – image shown below) feature a versatile, high-performance Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with powerful 12x zoom (equivalent to a 35 – 420mm zoom lens on a conventional 35mm film camera) and F2.8 brightness throughout the entire zoom range. With their extraordinary telephoto features and precision image stabilizers, these cameras are engineered to capture every detail of distant or quick-moving subjects with superb brightness and clarity.
Panasonic releases 12X 4MP digital camera
Featuring F2.8 brightness throughout the entire zoom range, the camera’s powerful 12x zoom is equivalent to a 35 – 420mm zoom lens on a conventional 35mm film camera.
Its precision Leica lens, extraordinary telephoto features and no-lag processing speed enable this camera to capture every detail of distant or quick-moving subjects with superb brightness and clarity.
The new, high-performance DMC-FZ10 Lumix camera is targeted for retail introduction in November, and will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $599.00.
