Pentax has introduced three new digital cameras in its consumer-friendly Optio line of compact digital cameras, the Optio WS80, Optio E80, and Optio P80. The new offerings sport 10 and 12 megapixel resolutions, sizable LCD displays, face detection and image stabilization…and the WS80 is even waterproof to a depth of 1.5 meters (just about 5 feet) for capturing that summertime fun.

Pentax Unveils Three New Consumer Cameras
Among the many camera announcements made Thursday in advance of the Photo Marketing Association trade show that begins on Jan. 31, Pentax added three new consumer-level cameras to its line-up. The Optio S12, M50 and E50 all offer point-and-shoot operation in packages under $300.
The entry-level Optio E50 uses two AA batteries instead of the more traditional proprietary battery pack, and sports a thickness of 0.9 inches that carries across all three news cams. It gets an 8.1 MP CCD, 3x optical zoom and a 2.4-inch LCD. Extra options include digital shake reduction and face recognition.
Pentax Introduces Optio A40, V10 Cameras
Pentax has tkaen the wraps off a new pair of cameras in its Optio point-and-shoot line of digital cameras: the 12 megapixel Optio A40 and the slim 8 megapixel Optio V10.
The Optio A40 features a 12 megapixel resolution, a 2.5-inch LCD monitor, 21 MB of internal memory, and image storage via SD and SDHC media. The A40 also offers USB 2.0 connectivity, NTSC/PAL video output, and PictBridge compatibility, along with image stabilization (mechanical and digital, plus a shake-free movie mode), a 3× optical zoom, ISO sensitivity down to 3,200 at five megapixels, and an AVI movie mode which can capture video at 30 frames per second. Pentax also includes face recognition technology, including a Natural Skin Tone mode and a Half-Length Portrait mode for instant head-and-shoulders shots. Expect to see the Optio A40 this month for about $300.
Pentax Intros Two 8 Megapixel Optios
Pentax has announced two new entries in its Optio line of point-and-shoot digital cameras, the Optio E40 and the Optio M40.
The Optio M40 sports a slim metallic body, 8 megapixel resolution, a 3× optical zoom, and a 2.5-inch LCD display. The camera is designed to appeal to both entry-level and experienced digital camera users, offering digital shake reduction, and auto-macro feature, and face recognition technology designed to keep your friends (and even your enemies) recognizable in candid photos. The camera has decent low-light capability—sensitivity down to ISO 1600 (3200 with shake reduction) and can capture QuickTime video. The Optio M40 offers USB 2.0 output, NTSC/PAL video out, and PictBridge compatibility; the camera packs over 20 MB of internal memory, and stores images to SD and SDHC media.

Pentax Announces Optio S7 Shooter
Pentax has announced its new Optio S7 point-and-shoot consumer-oriented digital camera, featuring a 7 megapixel CCD, face-detection technology to assist in portraits, and an ISO as high as 1600 to help produce high-quality, sharp images even in poor light and nighttime conditions.

PENTAX Offers Up New Optio WPI Colors
PENTAX today announced they’d expanded their line of Optio WPi waterproof digital cameras to include new red and blue colors in addition to the existing silver model. These new cameras are available now for $349.95.
PENTAXâ€s Optio WPi digital cameras, said the company, have a six megapixel CCD sensor packed into a slim design which can take pictures up to five feet underwater. Other features of this product line include a 3x zoom lens, 2†LCD monitor, 9-point autofocus, 0.6 second start-up time and a photo undelete function.

Digital camera company Pentax announced two new compact digital cameras at CES 2006. Both cameras are part of the company’s Optio line.
The Optio A10 camera is Pentax’s first compact digital with an 8 megapixel CCD. Features of this under $350 model, which will be available in February 2006, include anti-shake technology to help with sharper images, dimensions of 3.5†x 2.1†x 0.9â€, 15 shooting modes, video recording at 30fps and a 2.5†color LCD display.
