Fujitsu Announces Two New Tablet PCs

Fujitsu has announced two more entries in its tablet PC lineup: the LifeBook T2010 which sports a conventional convertible table PC form factor, and the LifeBook U810, a tiny, QUERTY-equipped palmtop PC designed to put processing power and entertainment in a small, portable package.

“The LifeBook U810 notebook hits the mark for on-the-go workforces and prosumers who appreciate the mobile aspects of a PDA, but need the power and compatibility of a notebook,” said Paul Moore, Fujitsu’s senior director of mobile product marketing, in a release. “And for customers who love our best-selling LifeBook T4220 convertible notebook with a modular bay, but would like a lighter 1-spindle version with longer battery life, the wait is over with the introduction of the LifeBook T2010 notebook.”

Fujitsu’s Stylin’ with ST5100 Tablet PCs

Computer and electronics maker Fujitsu has announced its Stylistic 5111 and 51112 Tablet PCs, bringing Intel’s Core Duo processors into its 3.5-pound tablets, and offering 10.4- and 12.1-inch screens for pen-based computing.

“The Stylistic ST5100 Tablet PCs, with their durable, slim form factor, renowned Fujitsu reliability, and the latest mobile technology, continue their industry status as best-in-class,” said Paul Moore, Fujitsu Computer Systems’ Senior Director of Mobile Product Marketing, in a statement. “Whether it’s in a hospital or out in the field, a Stylistic ST5100 epitomizes the ultimate in on-your-feet computing, with perfect balance and intuitive ease-of-use features.”

ReplayTV PC Edition to ‘Redefine’ DVRs

Gateway has announced its CX210/M285-E “convertible notebooks,” which is the company’s way of saying “tablet PC,” refreshing its products with Intel Core Duo processors, 802.11a/b/g wireless networking standard, and new configure-to-order options. The convertible PCs s basically look like standard laptops except (whiz-bang!) the screens can swivel and fold down flat on the keyboard so the machines can be used like a pad for pen-based computing. Motion Computing Launches Motion LE1600

The clipboard-sized Motion LE1600 Tablet PC weighs 3.1 pounds and features a slim, tapered design, about a quarter-pound lighter and a quarter-inch thinner than the Motion M1400. Motion’s new flagship product runs Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 and is built-to-order per customer specification.

The Motion LE1600 is the first slate tablet PC to ship with the latest generation of Intel Centrino mobile technology (formerly codenamed Sonoma), including the Low Voltage Intel Pentium M processor 1.5GHz, the Mobile Intel 915GMS Express Chipset, and the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection, providing enhanced performance, graphics processing, power management, and flexible WLAN capabilities for the mobile platform. In addition, the LE1600 includes 512MB of upgradeable 400MHz DDRII memory and a 30GB hard drive, upgradeable to 60GB. The hard drive is a shock-mounted 1.8″ design for enhanced durability.

It is good to see Microsoft still supporting this platform despite research reports indicating that the Tablet PC may be close to dead. Sales are down and some companies such as Dell have dropped the Tablet PC form factor altogether.
