New BlackBerry Pearl Flips up on T-Mobile

New BlackBerry Pearl Flips up on T-Mobile

BlackBerry’s much-anticipated Storm may still be weeks away, but a less-groundbreaking but still anticipated new BlackBerry has just cropped up at T-Mobile. The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8820, announced last month, officially launched for T-Mobile on Monday, making it the first network to get the slim new folder.

The big news, of course, will be pricing for the device. The Flip version of the Pearl will carry the exact same price tag as its predecessor the Pearl 8120: $150 with a two-year contract. Initially, the phone will only be available in black, but a red version more suited to its consumer-centric marketing push will launch on Oct. 20.

LG Lotus Blends Fashion, QWERTY Keys

Bringing some high-concept fashion to the recent boom in high-dollar smartphones, LG on Wednesday revealed the Lotus, a flowery, eye-catching clamshell phone destined for Sprint. Like the simultaneously debuting BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8820, the Lotus packs a QWERTY keyboard into a folding design, but also manages to do it with some of LG’s signature design sensibility.

RIM Introduces BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8820

Canada’s Research in Motion has formally introduced its BlackBerry Peal Flip 8820 smartphone, a new addition to its popular BlackBerry line that leaves the stodgy confines of corporate connectivity behind and pushes the company further into making smartphones for everyday people.

“The popularity of BlackBerry smartphones has grown tremendously around the world and the introduction of this exciting new flip phone will help extend the reach of the BlackBerry platform even further,” said RIM’s president and CEO Mike Lazaridis, in a statement. “The BlackBerry Pearl Flip is a full-featured smartphone with a unique and friendly design and it is a natural choice for flip phone users who want to start doing more with their phone than just talk.”
