Intel Announces USB 3.0 Controller Spec

Hoping to avert a possible "fork" over forthcoming high-speed USB 3.0 technology, Intel has announced version 0.9 of its USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller Interface (xHCI). The controller spec provides a standardized method for USB 3.0 controllers—the kinds of things that will eventually be build into everything from hard drives to cameras to audio gear to media players—to talk to each other. And, of course, USB 3.0 is faster than existing USB 2.0 connections…up to 10 times faster.

ATI Announces Mobility Radeon X700 GPU

Mobility Radeon X700 technology will be adopted by many of the industry’s top OEM and ODM designers including Acer, Arima, Asus, Alienware, BenQ, Clevo, Compal, ECS, Eurocom, Fujitsu, Fujitsu-Siemens, Gateway Inc, Inventec, Lenovo, LG, Medion, MSI, Samsung, Sony, Targa, Toshiba and Uniwill.

ATI Announces Integrated Radeon 9100 Pro

ATI Technologies Inc. today announced the introduction of RADEON 9100 PRO IGP, a high performance platform product for both Intel Pentium 4 and Celeron Processors. The official launch of the RADEON 9100 PRO IGP will take place at Gartner’s System Builder Summit in Barcelona, Spain on May 5, 2004. Launch partners for the event include such industry leaders as Gigabyte, MSI, Sapphire, Shuttle PC, FIC, Jetway and Soyo.

HP Chooses ATI For New Notebooks

The HP Pavilion zx5000 series notebook features both ATI’s MOBILITY RADEON 9200 and MOBILITY RADEON 9600 graphics. The Pavilion zx5000 is optimized to provide virtual parity with desktop PC performance for improved levels of user functionality, entertainment and convenience.

ATI’s MOBILITY RADEON 9000 IGP graphics technology is also featured in the new HP Pavilion zv5000 series notebook, designed with a premium on value and loaded with rich multimedia features.

The Compaq Presario R3000 comes equipped with a choice of ATI’s MOBILITY RADEON 9000 IGP, MOBILITY RADEON 9200, or MOBILITY RADEON 9600 mobile visual processors. The R3000 caters to mobile users who crave flexibility and a high performance audio-visual experience.

IBM and HP choose ATI’s Mobility FIRE GL
