Nearly a year after Rock Band first launched, the aftermarket for controllers is finally picking up. From full-size replicas to more stylized axes, options have generally been expanding, but one instrument has been quite conspicuously lacking: a true bass guitar. Mad Catz remedied that issue on Monday with the release of its Fender Precision Bass replica, the first of its type for Rock Band.

Quad Core Servers, Workstations from Dell
Computer maker Dell wants to be the first out the door with server and workstation products based on Intel’s Quad-Core Xeon processors, and today the company introduced new PowerEdge servers and Precision workstations designed to satisfy the most processor-hungry applications&hellp;and users.
“Dell prides itself not only on being first to market with technology, but first to deliver exceptional value to the customer while helping to reduce costly complexity in their environment,” said Brad Anderson, Dell Product Group’ senior VP. “The introduction of quad-core processing enables us to guide customers more easily than ever to the benefits of a scale-out architecture, migrating from higher cost systems with four or more sockets used for enterprise applications to two socket systems with better price/performance and lower power consumption, and accelerating their ability to take advantage of this new technology for better business results now and in future growth.”
Dell Launches New Printers, Workstations
Direct marketer Dell took the wraps off a new line of laser printers aimed squarely at rival Hewlett-Packard’s workgroup and business printing market, introducing five new monochrome and color laser printers with high page counts and competitive prices. Dell also rolled out two new Precision workstations which may not have a lot of visual flair, but boast significantly improved zip-to-dollar ratios.
Dell’s new printer offerings include:
- The Laser Printer 5310n is priced at $999 and is intended for large groups with big black-and-white printing needs, offering speeds up to 50 ppm at letter sizes, numerous expansion options, and low operational costs.
Dell Recalls 990,000 AC Adapters
“Dell’s Web site and customer service center sold the computers with adapters from September 1998 through February 2002 for $1,500 to $3,200.
The adapters were manufactured in China and sold separately for $30 and $70. The recalled adapters were used primarily with Dell Latitude, Precision and Inspiron notebook personal computers. “
