In conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Acer America has issued a recall for a small number of its high-end Predator desktop gaming systems, which feature futuristic mecha-inspired cases and high performance components.
The recall applies to the ASG7200 and ASG7700 Predator models, according to Acer, insulation on some of the system’s internal wiring can be stripped or bent, leading to short circuits and risks of shock and/or burns. The company has received two reports of incidents that melted the case and some internal components; although neither incident occurred in the United States, Acer is recalling about 215 machine sold in the U.S. between May and December 2008.
