Toshiba Updates Qosmio Gaming Notebooks

Toshiba has announced three new additions to its Qosmio notebook computer line, designed to satisfy users looking for the a serious multimedia, entertainment, and gaming system.

“The Qosmio has long been the standard of excellence in the multimedia laptop space, in both styling and entertainment capabilities,” said Toshiba America digital product division VP and general manager Jeff Barney, in a statement. “In an effort to take this standard to the next level for gamers and multimedia enthusiasts alike, the three new Qosmio models have been tailored specifically towards their personal interests, while staying true to the incredible user-experience that the Qosmio family is known for.”

Toshiba Brings HD DVD-R Notebook to U.S.

Even though Toshiba announced its Qosmio G45 back in January—and started shipping it in Japan in February—the company has finally brought its entertainment powerhouse Qosmio G45-AV680 notebook system to the U.S. market, making it the first notebook system offered to U.S. consumers with HD DVD-R capability.

“Already Toshiba’s premiere audio-video solution, the new Qosmio is a remarkable step forward in the digital renaissance, in terms of putting high-definition capabilities and creative multimedia tools into people’s hands,” said Mark Simons, VP and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc.’s Digital Products Division, in a statement. “Whether you want to immortalize a recent European vacation on HD DVD, simply enjoy the perfection of studio-produced high-definition films with stunning Dolby surround sound, or listen to music, the Qosmio puts a world of opportunity at our fingertips.”

Toshiba Shows Qosmio G30 HD DVD Notebook

At this year’s CeBIT expo, Toshiba has taken the wraps off the Qosmio G30, the latest addition to its high-end line of multimedia computers and its first laptop equipped with an HD DVD-capable optical drive. The new notebook is due to begin shipping in April in the United Kingdom, and it truly wants to be your full-equipped entertainment center. The Qosmio G30 will offer a TV Tuner, DVB-T tuner, Windows XP Media Center Edition, a GeForce 7600 graphics unit with 256 MB of video memory, a 2 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, HDMI digital output, two 120 GB RAID drives, and a 1080p-compatible 1920 by 1700-pixel display.

Toshiba Expands Qosmio Brand Offering

Featuring a 17-inch wide-screen display and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the Qosmio G15-AV501 offers consumers a unique “four-in-one” experience, eliminating the need for multipleconsumer electronics devices such as a DVD player, PVR, TV and stereo. The Qosmio F15-AV201 offers the same functionality with a 15.4-inch diagonal wide-screen display.

“With the introduction of these new products, Toshiba is reinforcing its commitment to digital convergence and evolving the Qosmio brand through intelligent, stylish designs,” said Taro Hiyama, vice president of marketing for Toshiba’s Digital Products Division a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. “The inclusion of wide-screen displays and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 was the next logical step for Qosmio, taking easy to use, personal entertainment solutions to the next level.”
