Navigon GPS Units Offer DirectHelp

GPS newcomer Navigon has launched its Navigon 2100 and Navigon 2120 Max GPS models in the United States and Canada (respectively), offering a 4.3-inch antiglare screen, text-to-speech spoken directions, route planning, and a “reality view that provides 3D, photo-realistic views of complex exchanges and intersections, complete with road layout and the actual text that appears on road signs. And, if you get stuck or lost, a DirectHelp feature immediate pulls up directions and phone numbers for nearby emergency services.

“Providing consumers with affordable products, without sacrificing features that play a significant role in their navigation experience, is our top focus when bringing new products to market,” said Navigon Americas president Andreas Hecht, in a statement.

Is it Time to Consider an All-In-One Desktop?

With Apple refreshing their market leading iMac line, Sony their wonderful LT and LS lines, and HP their revolutionary Touchsmart (not to mention others coming to market shortly), is it finally time to consider an all-in-one desktop?

I’m not going to focus much on the differences between products, and instead focus on the benefits of the form factor and why you may want to start considering it for a home or small office PC. I’ll even suggest there may be a market for an enterprise all-in-one, but the last true enterprise all-in-one, the X41, was from IBM and they discontinued it long before they spun out their PC division to Lenovo.

Road Runner To Get Speed Boost

From AOL Time Warner’s press release:

Time Warner Cable today announced plans to introduce a new option for its Internet, high-speed data customers-Road Runner Premium, which is up to twice as fast as its popular Road Runner core service. Most of Time Warner Cable’s 31 operating divisions will begin offering this new option to Road Runner customers beginning next month.

Road Runner Premium will offer speeds of up to 6 mega-bits per second (Mbps) downstream and 512 kilo-bits per second (kbps) upstream. This compares to the core Road Runner service, which offers speeds of up to 3Mbps downstream and 384kbps upstream. Road Runner is already one of the fastest high-speed Internet connections available through cable and is up to twice as fast as the DSL standard package in most areas.
