Twitter Not For Teens, Teenage Intern Says

Twitter Not For Teens, Teenage Intern Says

According to Edward Hill-Wood, executive director of Morgan Stanley’s European media team, it’s "one of the clearest and most thought-provoking insights we have seen – so we published it."

He’s speaking about a report by Matthew Robson, a 15-year-old intern at the investment bank on the media habits of his friends. So what makes this so important?

That’s an interesting question. Robson’s analysis, which was sent to Morgan Stanley’s clients as a research note last Friday, says, in part:

Xbox vs. PS3: The Wii Lesson

The title of this article sounds like I’m writing for an Irish publication of some type, and I suddenly feel the need to talk about the Wii people and a pot of gold.

That pot of gold has been elusive to both Microsoft and Sony of late. Sony has been in search of sales for the PS3, and Microsoft has just instituted a massive repair policy change and taken over a $1B (hint: that is about what a small aircraft carrier costs) charge to earnings.

Vista May Not Actually Support Turbo Memory

Transparent windows might not be Windows Vista’s only see-through feature. Sony is claiming that compatability with Intel’s Turbo Memory technology, which was promised with the new operating system, isn’t actually functional in the first release.

Turbo Memory is a form of on-board laptop memory designed to reduce boot time and application loading times by pre-loading data. While Dell, Asus, Acer and Toshiba already offer notebooks with Turbo Memory built in, Sony claims that they will not include it on their next line of Vaio notebooks because Vista isn’t actually capable of taking advantage of it.

Acer Aspire 5920, Flashy Like a Gemstone

Acer today introduced a stylish new notebook series which draws off of a new industrial design theme and is powered by the new Intel Centrino mobile technology, codenamed Santa Rosa. The Acer Aspire 5920 models also all incorporate a 15.4-inch wide display and optional HD-DVD drive.

The Aspire 5920 design, said Acer, is called the Gemstone concept and is created to capture "the universal value of natural beauty." The Intel Core 2 Duo processor is built around fourth-generation Centrino platform for what is being described as enhanced system performance and better battery life. Select models of the Aspire 5920 series also incorporate Intel Robson technology which uses "non-volatile memory to increase system responsiveness."
