Motorola’s ROKR T505 Taps into Car Speakers

Motorola

Drawing on the same phone-and-music blend that serves as the basis for the ROKR handset, Motorola announced a new ROKR hands-free device for the car on Wednesday. The ROKR T505 pumps both music and voice from a Bluetooth-enabled phone or MP3 player through a car stereo, via an integrated FM transmitter.

To make sure callers aren’t greeted with an ear-splitting dose of AC/DC when you pick up the phone in the car, the T505 automatically cuts off music when you take a call, and cancels out noise and echoes. It also does the grunt work of finding the clearest FM station for you with Motorola’s StationFinder technology. The device clips onto a visor, so there’s no installation necessary, and its batteries should last for about 14 days on standby, or a full 18 hours of talking.

Motorola Announces Four New Mobile Phones

Motorola Announces Four New Mobile Phones

Motorola has announced four new CDMA handsets all due to be available on the U.S. market by July of 2007—and some much sooner. The phones include additions to its RAZR and ROKR lines, plus two new CDMA handsets for the more budget-conscious segment of the mobile phone market.

First up, the RAZR maxx VE offers a new variation Motorola’s successful RAZR clamshell design, including a video-capable 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, 60 MB of built-in memory plus microSD storage, EV-DO high speed mobile data services, support for MP3 and WMA audio playback, support for location-based services via GPS, and a futuristic look with touch-sensitive music keys and "elegant" lighting. Motorola says the RAZR maxx VE will be available during the first quarter of 2007 (wasn’t that over a couple weeks ago?)—no pricing information is available, but wireless carrier Verizon Wireless has been hinting at the phone’s availability for several weeks.

Study Says: Sony Ericsson W800i is a Hit

Well, it should come as no surprise that the new Motorola ROKR/iTunes phone is a flop. It’s ugly and can only story a measly 100 songs – who wants that? Not you, according to a new study by research firm Strategy Analytics. The new report concludes that the new Sony Ericsson W800i Walkman phone is the highest rated mobile phone in the USA, topping the Motorola ROKR and Samsung A970 phones.

So what makes the W800i Walkman phone so great? According to Strategy Analytics it has a superior style appeal and impressive audio quality. The Motorola ROKR received a high score for usability, but lacked style and features. And the Samsung A970 phone was just too heavy at 144 grams.
