JVC Offers Full-Featured YouTube Camcorder

It’s no secret that YouTube played a major role in popularizing the ultra-cheap Flip camcorder, which was practically tailor-made for jamming videos to the site, but for those with more serious YouTube ambitions, the Flip falls a little short. JVC hopes to cater to this crowd with its new Everio S-series camcorder, the GZ-MS100, which combines a fuller camcorder feature set alongside specialized YouTube functions.

Although styled close to the Everio G-series HDD camcorders, the MS100 uses SD cards for recording to keep costs down – meaning you’ll have to buy your own. It does, however, retain many G-Series features, including a 2-7-inch flip-out LCD, a Konica Minolta lens with 35x optical zoom, and Laser Touch buttons that users merely glide a finger along to operate.

Samsung Rolls Out S860, S760 Cameras

Samsung has announced two new entry-level cameras in its S-series line, the S760 and S860, offering resolutions of 7.2 and 8.1 megapixels, respectively. Both models offer digital image stabilization, face detection technology (which, in this case, not only attempts to identify and set focus and exposure for faces in the frame, but only allows a photo to be taken if the subject is centered), and a 3× optical zoom. Both cameras also feature an “E” button, that offers instant access to creative image manipulations, from adjusting brightness and contrast to fixing red-eye and converting to sepia or negative without using a computer.

Sony Expands Bravias, Adds Internet Video

Fujitsu Computer Systems today enhanced the performance of the LifeBook S2000 notebook and maintained the price point to make it even more attractive to budget-conscious mobile professionals and students.

Starting at $1,199, the LifeBook S2000 notebook is one of the most affordable thin-and-light notebooks on the market. This is due in part to its use of the low-voltage mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2100+ processor with AMD PowerNow! Technology.
