Visioneer RoadWarrior Sees Your Paper Trail

Visioneer RoadWarrior Sees Your Paper Trail

Digital imaging developer Visioneer has announced its new RaodWarrior mobile scanner, a tiny USB-powered document scanner intended to help business travelers and other on-the-go folks manage receipts, business cards, and other documents while they’re on the road.

“Today’s road warriors demand that every item in their bag do double or triple duty and it needs to integrate with their existing tools. We designed the RoadWarrior to handle business cards, receipts, expense reports and business documents; as well as provide search and retrieval of all files on your PC,” said John Capurso, vice president of marketing at Visioneer. “We constantly survey mobile professionals for their wish list.”

Plustek Introduces New Slim Scanner

Imaging devices manufacturer Plustek yesterday introduced a new, slim scanner designed to fit into a briefcase. The OpticSlim M12 Plus is priced at $179 and available now.

The OpticSlim M12 Plus, said Plustek, measures 274 x 47 x 33.8mm and weighs 330 grams. It is designed to scan full legal documents and create PDF files through a one touch scan button process.

Epson Debuts Perfection 4990 Scanner Series

The EPSON Perfection 4990 PHOTO and EPSON Perfection 4990 PRO scanners both have a versatile built-in 8″ x 10″ transparency unit (TPU) with a moving carriage and lamp optimized for film scans for quality rarely seen in a consumer-level scanner. The TPU is almost 50% larger than the predecessor models. It includes film holders that support eight 35mm mounted slides, four 35mm film strips up to 24 frames, three to six medium format frames or two 4″ x 5″ frames. It also has an 8″ x 10″ guide for transparencies and proof sheets without film holders, allowing for a larger volume of negative scanning.

Epson Perfection 4180 Review

Quote from the review:

Epson’s latest A4 flatbed scanner is targeted at amateur photographers and home photo enthusiasts. The scanner sits towards the top-end of Epson’s Perfection line and offers an impressive optical resolution of 4800×4800ppi. It also comes with three clip-on adapters for scanning negative strips, slides, and medium-format transparencies, and supports an optional multi-photo feeder and ADF for batch scanning. As with all new Epson scanners, the Perfection 4180 Photo also includes colour restoration software to help restore faded photos and film, as well as dust removal functions that remove ‘dust’ and scratches from scans. Quality is key though, and the Perfection 4180 Photo doesn’t disappoint. It’s very slow when scanning at its highest settings, but you’ll be hard pushed to find such a capable scanner for under £200.”

Visioneer Ships New Photo Scanner

The 9120 ships this month for a suggested retail price of $99.99.

The OneTouch 9120 features 2,400 by 4,800 optical resolution, which the company says can turn a 4-by-6-inch print into a 32-by-48-inch enlargement with no loss of detail. It also features 48-bit internal color and FlashBack bi-directional AutoScan technology, for two-way scanning.

With the FlashBack AutoScan enabled, the scanner moves one way to prescan the image area, automatically crops to the edges of the photo, then reverses direction and completes the final high resolution scan on the return trip, eliminating the second pass during autocrop scanning.

Kodak announces the i80 scanner

The duplex i80 Scanner is ideal for business or government departments that need to capture, publish and archive documents. It offers improved bitonal and color performance with the convenience of simultaneously capturing both sides of a document in a single pass, unlike simplex scanners, which scan just one side of a page. This makes the i80 Scanner twice as productive as a simplex scanner for dual-sided applications. Available in late summer at a suggested retail list price of $2,700, the i80 Scanner offers duplex scanning speed with color quality that rivals more expensive models.
