Shutterfly Offers In-Store Pickup at Target

Online photo service Shutterfly announced Monday that it would make the leap to retail stores via a partnership with Target stores. Using either company’s Web site, users will be able to upload, store and share photos just as they normally would with Shutterfly, but prints will be available for pickup at Target stores in as little as one hour.

The move will place Shutterfly in direct competition with pharmacies like CVS and Rite Aid, which have long leveraged their physical locations to offer in-store pickup of online orders. All three companies offer standard 4×6 prints for what seems to be the going rate of 19 cents.

Shutterfly Photos Go DVD

Isn’t it a pain to have hundreds of photos online and no easy way to view them without an Internet connection? Online photo storage service Shutterfly has an idea to solve this problem as today they introduced their new PhotoShow DVD service.

The PhotoShow DVD service, said Shutterfly, will allow users to select up to 400 online photos and appropriate options to be saved as a multimedia slideshow on a DVD which Shutterfly burns and mails out. One of six styles can be selected to celebrate a special event, with further customization options allowing for such things as music, transitions, borders and end credits.

Shutterfly Debuts Picture Sharing Service

Independent online photo service Shutterfly today threw their hat into the photo sharing market as they unveiled Shutterfly Connections. This new service creates online photo storage space with dedicated web site addresses which owners share with others for viewing and interaction.

Connections, Shutterfly said, allows registered owners to create up to two free dedicated sites, each with a personal web address. On these sites can be stored and shared an unlimited number of photo albums which others can be invited to see through email. A password option can be set for each site for greater privacy if so desired.

Shutterfly Spawns New Digital Image Tools

Online photo service Shutterfly today announced some new enhancements for their customers who store digital images with them. Chief among these new features is a search technology which Shutterfly says will make it easier to find that one photo amongst the hundreds or thousands many digital camera owners have accumulated

The new search tool allows users to locate pictures under a multitude of criteria, including favorites, text, date range and images ordered on prints or other products. One criterion can be searched on, or all at the same time.
