Proving that gaming rigs don’t have to come in 50-pound neon-lit towers, leading small-form-factor (SFF) PC manufacturer Shuttle introduced its XPC Prima SX38P2 Pro gaming machine on Wednesday.

Fitting into a case roughly eight inches wide, eight inches tall and 13 inches long, the only thing unnecessarily large about the machine would appear to be its name. Shuttle used Intel’s X38 chipset, which will support Core 2 Quad and Duo processors, among others. It can handle up to 8GB of DDR memory at 1066 MHz. Two PCI Express 2.0 slots with ATI CrossFire technology provide room for a variety of video card options.

Shuttle XP17 Preview At Anandtech

Quote from the article at Anandtech:

“Shuttle has done an amazing job over the last few years with its XPC systems. Shuttle originally put itself on the map as a motherboard OEM, then as the pioneer of the small form factor industry. In order to keep competitive with the dozens of new SFF units each year, Shuttle began to push sales toward its high end small form factor XPC line. As a result, accessory components for the XPC line are cropping up here and there, including the LCD monitor that we will look at today, the Shuttle XP17. Keep in mind that the last time we look at an LCD designed as an accessory for a high end workstation, we discovered the gem of LCD monitors, the Dell 2001FP.

Review: Shuttle SB65G2 Small Form Factor PC

The Tech Report takes a look at the Shuttle SB65G2 Small Form Factor system.

“SHUTTLE’S XPC LINE HAS served as a barometer of PC technology for a while now. The line has gone from having one model of each processor architecture (Pentium III, Pentium 4, Athlon) to being ready with new models at the release of a new chipset. Releasing new models this way has allowed Shuttle to keep up quite nicely with advancements in everything from mass storage technology to AGP bandwidth.

Shuttle XPC ST61G4 Review

Quote from the review at HardwareZone:

“Certainly we have to agree that the Shuttle ST61G4 is the best Pentium 4 based SFF for light gaming, but if CPU choice is not a problem, then the Shuttle SN41G2 / SN45G2 would be a better proposition as shown in our results segment. For those who wish to have the best of both worlds for work and play, the Intel chipset based solution with an AGP card is still the way to go because the XPC ST61G4 is quite pricey.”
