It takes some imagination to use the Wii remote as a controller for a golf club, bat or tennis racket, but as a flashlight, which you’ll wield it as in Silent Hill Shattered Memories, you might just mistake it for the real thing. Moving a character around with a joystick and pointing at the screen with the Wii remote to cast light on your pitch-black surroundings feels as natural as doing it in real life. And just as creepy.

Konami Brings Metal Gear, Castlevania News
Following major press conferences from the “big three” at this year’s E3, smaller Japanese developer Konami stepped up to the plate on Wednesday to share tidbits about its own upcoming titles [PDF]. News from the company included some of its most popular franchises, including Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Silent Hill.
Metal Gear fans won’t have to wait long for their taste of fresh content: marketing vice president Anthony Krause announced first thing that an expansion pack for Metal Gear Online was due to be released Thursday. Konami will also put on tournaments for the game at this year’s Comic-Con and Tokyo Game Show.
Konami Revs Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill
At previous E3 Expos, Sony took flak for showing off video trailers of games in developement for its then-forthcoming PlayStation 3 console, including an installment of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid tactical espionage franchise. The trick, it turns out, was that much of that game footage was pre-rendered, and therefore didn’t show off so much what the PlayStation 3 could do as what Sony imagined it would be able to do—you know, once they got it out the door.
