Logitech Unveils Interactive Speakers

Peripheral and accessory maker Logitech has asked itself one of the primarily existential questions of our technological age—What’s the difference between a set of speakers and a stereo?—pondered carefully, mulled its options, consulted sages, and then stepped forth boldly into the muddy philosophical waters with its answer: the new, sublimely-apellated Logitech Z-10 Interactive 2.0 Speaker System.

CES 2006 Profile: dreamGear

Video game accessory maker dreamGear, at CES 2006 in early January, announced a new line of speakers for the iPod family as well as Sony’s PlayStation Portable handheld video game system. The company named this product line i.Sound.

Amongst the eight speaker sets announced, several standout. The most notable of these is the i.Sound Max Portable Speaker System. Targeted towards iPod users, this docking station style system comes with a full function remote control. It has a tubular casting design, can be powered by an included AC adapter or 4 AA batteries, digital volume control and bass enhancement control. It is priced at $129.95 and should be available in March 2006.

Saitek Debuts New Digital Media Products

Saitek Industries, a maker of computer related products, earlier this week announced they’d begun shipping their line of Digital Media Entertainment products. The company is touting their new A200 Portable 2.1 Speaker System ($99), A250 Wireless 2.1 Speaker System ($129) and A350 Wireless Headphones ($99) as designed to fit the “home entertainment” style by ditching the plain white look found on many similar products.

The A200 speakers utilizes what Saitek calls an “expanded air volume system” technology to generate better bass and high range sounds from its quasi triangular shape. This “air volume system” rises up from the A200 as the power button is touched. It produces 2.1 stereo sound and can run for 24 hours on four AAA batteries.

iM7 Adds Big Sound to Your iPod

Compatible with the Apple iPod, iPod mini and iPod Photo, the new Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 Portable Speaker System reminds us of the older Bazooka Tube subwoofers that car audio retailers sell. That’s not a bad thing though, because the iM7 looks pretty powerful. Packed into the iM7 are two 1″ tweeters, two 3″ mid-range drivers, a 4″ side-firing subwoofer and a 4″ passive radiator. More power than most home mini-systems.

Altec Lansing’s Debuts New Speaker Systems

From the press release:

VS2220 — Great Looks, Great Sound, Affordable Price

The new Altec Lansing VS2220 Stereo Speaker System (MSRP $29.95) is a thin, all-black, two-piece satellite set equipped with Altec-engineered 3″ high-fidelity drivers that outperform standard speakers in their category by a clear margin. The system’s wide frequency response range provides exceptional detail and clarity, while a special tone control mechanism allows consumers to adjust high and low frequency settings to suit their personal preference. Both satellites are shielded for use near video monitors, weighted for stability, trimmed in matte and high-gloss black, and finished with a black mesh grill. The system comes with a headphone jack for private listening, color-coded cables for easy installation, and a space-saving internal power supply. Available at leading computer and consumer electronics retailers or www.alteclansing.com in February.

Logisys UFO Multimedia Speaker Review

Quote from the review at EnvyNews:

“Logisys Computer Inc. grew from a small business importing peripherals and monitors to one that assembles whole personal computers in just over a decade. They offer case mods and power supplies, keyboards, mice, and other devices as well as budget speaker systems. The UFO Multimedia Speaker System is a 2.1set that mimics the Alienware theme. The black gloss and silver “eyes” of the SP6000BK provide a mean look and the silver theme (SP6000SL) reverses the colors. But does it provide a mean sound as well? And can it replicate the wall-rumbling, ear piercing screeches that my home theatre can? ”

Aperion INTIMUS 5.1 Speaker System Review

Designtechnica reviews the Aperion Audio INTIMUS 5.1 Speaker System:

“The looks, performance and price of the INTIMUS 5.1 home theater system should make this a very attractive option for many home audio enthusiasts. It can stand up to the sound and power of many more expensive systems and won’t break the bank in doing so.

The well engineered system and quality components provide outstanding sound quality. For an installation where bookshelf speakers are desired or towers simply won’t fit, the INTIMUS 5.1 system should definitely be considered.

Altec Lansing VS4121 2.1 review

Quote from the review at 3dGameMan.com:

“The Altec Lansing VS4121 2.1 Speaker System offers two slim stylish speakers and a subwoofer. The total power on this system is 31 watts but don’t let that fool you. They have very rich accurate loud sound whether they are connected to a gaming console, MP3/CD/DVD player, TV, etc. at a reasonable price. Watch the Video to find out more…”
