Toshiba Tecra M6: Slim & Core Duo

Toshiba’s new Tecra M6 notebook system aims that the business traveler who needs an moderately-priced computer, but for whom security and portability are key factors. Although it’s also available with Celeron or Core Solo processors, the Tecra M6 offers Core Duo processors up to 2.16 GHz and an integrated biometric fingerprint reader, Security Assist Console (which creates a “vault-like” security system), and Trusted Platform Module to make sure your data (and your network access) stay secure even if the laptop should, somehow, go astray. The Tecra M6 features a 1280 by 800 12.1-inch display, integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (so action gamers need to look elsewhere), a spill-resistant keyboard, a study chassis to help protect against bumps and thumps, and Windows XP Professional.

Toshiba Announces New Laptops

The Tecra S2 is one of the first notebooks to incorporate the new NVIDIA(R) GeForce Go 6600 graphics controller with 128 MB or 64 MB dedicated video memory, which is designed to maximize response time, provide better platform image management and deliver crisp vivid colors.

Toshiba’s Tecra S2 offers users a complete suite of communication technologies, including Gigabit Ethernet, V.92 modem, fast infrared, optional Bluetooth, and the choice of two wireless networking options: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection (802.11b/g) or Intel PRO/Wireless 2915 ABG Network Connection (802.11 a/b/g). To simplify the user’s connectivity experience, the Tecra S2 comes bundled with ConfigFree, Toshiba’s intuitive graphic connectivity management utility.

Toshiba Tecra A3 Comes In Under $1000

The Tecra A3 incorporates the next-generation Intel Centrino Mobile Technology (formerly codenamed Sonoma). This new technology is built around Intel Pentium M processors with 533 MHz front side bus, integrated Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection (802.11 b/g wireless LAN) and the new Mobile Intel 915 Express Chipset (formerly codenamed Alviso). This combination of features enables the Tecra A3 to deliver better performance with improved wireless and mobile security options.

Weighing as light as five pounds, the Tecra M2 features impressive battery life – up to 11.5 hours (with optional extended batteries) – in an easy to carry form factor that delivers seamless wireless connectivity options (IEEE 802.11b, optional g and a/g, Bluetooth) so users can stay in touch, work faster and get more done. Meanwhile, IT managers will enjoy the Tecra family benefits of a stable, configurable notebook with a long product lifecycle.
