For an organization that’s barely two weeks old, the Symbian Foundation is flourishing. The Nokia-led group, which was formed to help develop and open-source Symbian over the next two years, has just added nine more members to its original 10, and claim that there’s interest from more than 150 other companies.

The original group – Nokia, Symbian, Motorola, AT&T, NTT DoCoMo, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Vodafone – came together with the intent to develop and open-source Symbian, and also bring other, Symbian-derived platforms into the OS, according to ZDNet.

My Damn Channel Adds Two Shows

If the Hollywood writers’ strike has got you down—and let’s remember the last WGA strike in 1988 lasted six months!—then the recently launched alternative My Damn Channel has two new original shows which might help while away some of life’s more aimless moments. Launched back in August, My Damn Channel is the brainchild of MTV and CBS radio executive Rob Barnett, and aims to tap into the demand for online video by offering A-list content freed from the constraints of typical television and radio programming. The service debuted with content from veteran comedian Harry Shearer (The Simpsons,Spinal Tap, and a million other things), and now is adding two new episodic comedy series from creative studio Big Fat Brain Institute: Itty Bitty Liddy and Tim After Tim.

Orange’s 3G phones, which promise services such as quality music and video, movie clips, TV and speedy mobile Web access, will cost 199-399 euros in France and from zero to 119.99 pounds in Britain from Thursday. Monthly tariffs begin at 55 euros in France and a relatively aggressive 30 pounds in Britain.
