Apple’s iPod Wiz Steps Down

Apple

Steve Jobs may take the lion’s share of credit for the device that launched Apple to mainstream success – the iPod – but one of the other main men behind the curtain will be stepping down from his powerful position at Apple. On Tuesday, Apple announced that Tony Fadell would leave his position as senior vice president of the iPod division, and the company will bring in fresh blood from IBM as his replacement.

Both Fadell and his wife, Danielle Lambert, who was vice president of human resources at Apple, have stepped down from their positions at Apple to focus on their young family, according to Apple. Fadell will stay aboard in a reduced capacity, as an advisor to Steve Jobs.

Anticipating the Palm "iPhone"

This week there was a big announcement from Palm, one that could dramatically change what you see from that company. The result could have a big impact on Apple and the cell phone industry.

Not only did they get a large influx of private capital, allowing them to significantly enhance their ability to design and build new products, but the former head of Apple’s iPod Division, Jon Rubinstein, who also ran hardware for Apple through some of their best years, will take over as Executive Chairman of Palm’s board.

Scarface: 1 Million Hits and Counting

Sure, Epic Games’ Gears of War for Xbox 360 might have sold a million copies in two weeks…and Sierra Entertainment wasn’t going to bring it up because it might make other gams, you know, look bad, but they’re setting the record straight now. They’d just like people to know that its Scarface: The World Is Yours video sold more than one million copies in October across the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PSP platforms, according to the NPD Groups’ retail tracking report for Video Game Software Sales. During October, Scarface was the top title for PlayStation 2 and Xbox (lets remember the PS3 hadn’t shipped), the top console game in America, and the top game in America. In addition, the PSP title Scarface: Money. Power. Respect. was the top PSP game in America during the month.

THQ, HBO Making Sopranos Video Game

Video game publisher THQ and HBO today announced plans for a videogame based on the cable network’s widely popular series The Sopranos. The Sopranos game will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 video game consoles reportedly this holiday season.

The Sopranos game, said the two companies, puts players in the role of the illegitimate son of Sal “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero as they demonstrate their ability to move up in the ranks of Tony Soprano’s organization. Players undertake tasks like earning money on collections and protect their turf through intimidation as they take orders from Paulie, Silvio, Christopher and Tony in familiar locations such as the Bada Bing!, Nuovo Vesuvio’s and Satriale’s.
