Hackers Help Amazon Illegal Logging

Greenpeace has issued a report stating that Amazon loggers have employed computer hackers to help them work illegally. The hackers have been breaking into the system in the Brazilian province of Pará to change the transport permits issued by the government.

As the report explains:

“To be exported from Pará, each shipment of timber requires one of these transport permits, and the volume of timber in each shipment is deducted from the total amount allowed under the company’s forest management plan. Once that amount is reduced to zero, no more transport permits are issued so there’s no profit in felling more trees.”

MPC Computers yesterday rolled out a new business focused laptop which offers support for legacy ports. The new TransPort T3200 looks to be available now and has a base price configuration of $1,849.

The TransPort T3200, said MPC, has an Intel 945PM chipset which supports 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory, an Intel Core Duo Processor and the ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card. Legacy support is offered on the TransPort T3200 for parallel, serial and PS/2 ports and includes a biometric fingerprint scanner for security. Other features of the TransPort T3200 include an optional GPS module, tool-less removable hard drive, Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG mini-card with integrated Bluetooth and a 15.4

MPC Computers Debuts New Business Laptop

MPC Computers on Monday introduced their latest notebook computer to integrate the latest technologies in its computer class. The new TransPort T1300 has a starting configuration price of $1,249 and is available now.

The TransPort T1300, said MPC Computers, supports newer laptop technologies such as the Intel 945GM chipset, TPM (Trusted Platform Module) and Bluetooth. The chipset itself supports 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory and can be powered by the optional Intel Core Duo mobile processor technology. Other features of this business focused laptop include a 14.1″ widescreen XGA display with a 1280 x 800 resolution, Gigabit Ethernet and a 4-in-1 media card reader.
