GPS maker Garmin has unveiled the latest model in its nüvi line of automotive GPS sytems, the nüvi 1490T, featuring a large 5-inch touchscreen display, a body that’s 25 percent thinner than most nüvi units, and a new multiple-point routing feature that can calculate the most efficient routes for trips that have multiple stops. The unit also features Garmin’s premiere navigation assistance features, like lane assist, lifetime traffic alerts, and junction views.

Motley Crue to Release Single via Rock Band
Bad-boy rockers Mötley Crüe (yes, we’re going with the umlauts) are set to become the first group to release a single through the video game Rock Band, with the song “Saints of Los Angeles” from their upcoming album slated to be available to music fans for $0.99. The song will go on sale today through Microsoft’s Xbox Live Marketplace today, and debut this Thursday via Sony’s PlayStation Store.
Mötley Crüe is also set to announce further details of their new album at a Hollywood press event Tuesday.

Hard Disk Tech Earns Physics Nobel Prize
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2007 Nobel Prize in physics to France’s Albert Fert and Germany’s Peter Grünberg for their research into giant magnetoresistance&mdashGMR—which enables greater amounts of data to be packed into ever-smaller areas.
The two scientists discovered the phenomena independently of each other; they also shared the 2007 Japan Prize for their research.
Turkish ISP Blocks YouTube Over Insult
Throughout the world, it’s generally well-known that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is the founder of the modern republic of Turkey; it’s not so generally well-known that insulting Atatürk is a crime in the modern republic of Turkey.
Tuesday, Turk Telecom, the nations largest fixed-line communications provider, blocked access to Google’s video sharing site YouTube following a court ruling deeming a video available on the service were insulting to Atatürk. According to Turkish media reports, the court ruling came after “hundreds of thousands” of Turks complained about the video, which featured insults written in English appearing over a picture of Atatürk and the Turkish flag.
Garmin Updates GPS Lines, Goes to Dogs
Fresh off a dismissal of some patent infringement claims which left both Garmin and rival TomTom declaring victory, Garmin has announced a major refresh of its GPS product line…including a new product designed to let Fido in on the GPS action.
