Panasonic Offers Two New Budget Lumix Cams

Panasonic Offers Two New Budget Lumix Cams

The style-oriented FS arm of Panasonic’s Lumix brand got a little longer on Friday with the release of the DMC-FS7 and DMC-FS15. The colorful point-and-shoots both offer feature lists derived from the FX series, a range of different finishes, and prices under $200.

The FS15 gets a 12.1-megapixel sensor behind 29mm wide-angle Leica DC VARIO-ELMAR glass, and a 5x optical zoom. Digital features include Panasonic’s Intelligent Auto mode, autofocus tracking that lets users “lock on” to a moving target and snap focused pics, and intelligent exposure to help fight blown white highlights and black shadows, along with backlight compensation.

Panasonic DMC-FX8 Digital Camera

“The FX8 uses the new Venus Engine PLUS and a new battery, which together offer a claimed twofold improvement in battery life, as well as improved autofocus performance (including a new high-speed1-point AF mode). There’s also improved movie performance courtesy of a tweaked image sensor that now offers nine-pixel mixed readout. The camera body has also been restyled slightly. As with theFX7, the new model will be offered in four color schemes for the Japanese market – “Silky Silver”, “Comfort Blue”, “Misty Pink” and “Gross Black” (perhaps a little something got lost in thetranslation, but we’re actually quoting Panasonic on the names).

Pricing has not been announced at this time, but the camera will go on sale in Japan from June 4th. Five sample photos taken with the camera are available on Panasonic’s Japanese website.”

Panasonic DMC-LZ1 Digital Camera Debuted

From the press release:

The 4-megapixel DMC-LZ1 and 5-megapixel DMC-LZ2 feature a DC VARIO lens with 6x optical zoom (equivalent to 37mm to 222mm on a 35mm film camera lens), with capability of up to 24x magnification when combined with the 4x digital zoom, and MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer). Panasonic’s MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer automatically detects and optically compensates for hand movement.

“When using a small, lightweight camera such as these, zooming in can accentuate every little movement of the hand,” said Monica Helmer, Marketing Manager for Panasonic. “That’s why Panasonic incorporates its MEGA O.I.S into every Lumix camera. It enables you to take clear, distortion-free pictures, even ultra-telephoto or macro shots of distant or moving subjects, or shots taken in low lighting conditions.”

Panasonic’s New Lumix DMC-LS1 Camera

From the press release:

The DMC-LS1 also features 14 megabytes of built-in memory, enabling users to capture those spontaneous moments even when they don’t have an SD memory card on hand.

The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS1 digital camera is slated for an April introduction, and will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $229.95.

“This model packs some of today’s most advanced digital camera technology into a fun, easy-to-use camera that anyone can enjoy, whether you’re a first-time digital camera user or an experienced photographer,” said Monica Helmer, Marketing Manager for Panasonic’s Optical Group.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1 Camera Review

Quote from the review at The HardwareZone:

“Many people had previously thought that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1 was going to be a digital rangefinder. But this was not the case. The DMC-LC1 uses an electronic viewfinder (EVF) and lenses that cannot be swapped as well. But the design, from its fixed lens to its finely crafted body, right down to its full manual controls, resembles very much like a vintage camera. Like all other Lumix models, Leica lens was employed for the DMC-LC1. This time its a F2.0 – 2.4 Leica DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens (13 elements in 10 groups) with zoom capability equivalent to 28 – 90mm (35mm camera equivalent). And with Panasonic’s Venus Engine LSI that handles all image processing functions at the same time, the camera promises great image quality and responsiveness. “

Panasonic Announces 5-Megapixel Digital

From Panasonic’s press release:

The DMC-LC1 has a digital brain but the heart and soul of a finely crafted 35mm camera, right down to its controls. A true breakthrough in digital camera craftsmanship, the 5-megapixel DMC-LC1 brings a traditional photographic experience to the digital world, evoking the look, feel, precision, and responsiveness of a 35mm camera. Zoom, focus and aperture are manually controlled by ring settings on the lens; shutter speed is controlled by a dial located on the top of the unit. And, like all of Panasonic’s Lumix models, the DMC-LC1 features a high-performance Leica lens for extraordinary image rendering.

Panasonic releases 12X 4MP digital camera

Featuring F2.8 brightness throughout the entire zoom range, the camera’s powerful 12x zoom is equivalent to a 35 – 420mm zoom lens on a conventional 35mm film camera.
Its precision Leica lens, extraordinary telephoto features and no-lag processing speed enable this camera to capture every detail of distant or quick-moving subjects with superb brightness and clarity.

The new, high-performance DMC-FZ10 Lumix camera is targeted for retail introduction in November, and will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of  $599.00.
