Somewhere between the full LCD touch screen and the traditional hard number pad lies the context-sensitive touch menu, an interface pioneered by LG with the Venus and now showing up on Samsung’s latest flagship model, the Soul. Samsung announced the slick brushed-metal phone on Friday in preparation for the Mobile World Congress, sporting a context-sensitive OLED touch screen with icons that change depending on which menu a user has accessed.

LG’s Voyager Takes on iPhone on Verizon
Verizon Wireless has announced a series of four new phones which will serve as the anchor products for the company’s 2007 end-of-year holiday buying season: the Samsung Juke, the LG Venus, the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, and the LG Voyager—the latter of which the company hopes will compete favorably with Apple’s iPhone. Of course, the phones all tie in to Verizon’s V Cast mobile music, video, and media offerings, although the company has yet to reveal pricing and availability information for the new handsets, although prices should range from $100 to $400 with contracts.

Study Looks At Online Gaming Habits
When it comes to online gaming, there’s a new champion in town. Of those who play games on the Web, women over 40 play most often and spend the greatest number of hours per week doing so, beating out both men and teens, according to AOL Games’ “Casual Games Report,” conducted by Digital Marketing Services (DMS).
The study, a nationwide online survey of more than 3,600 casual game players (i.e., those who have played online games within the last three months), uncovered additional surprising results about men and women’s attitudes and behavior regarding online games. Adults, for example, were more likely than teens to play online games everyday, and more adults than teens have stayed up all night playing games on the Web.
