AT&T To Offer Vongo Online Movies
AT&T announced today that it’s teaming up with online movie provider Vongo, the movie delivery service from Starz.
Vongo went live earlier this year and offers Windows users broadband access to over 1,500 movies and a streaming Starz TV channel for $9.99 a month, as well as selected pay-per-view titles for $3.99. Users can transfer the selections to as many as three devices (other computers, portable players, etc.).
The new agreement with AT&T sets up a co-branded AT&T and Vongo site from which AT&T high-speed Internet customers can download the Vongo software and try the service for free for 14 days.
Starz Goes Vongo for Video on Demand
Starz Entertainment Group today announced, in conjunction with Microsoft and Sony, a new broadband video download service targeted towards computer and portable entertainment device users. Called Vongo, this service will cost $9.99 per month for unlimited access to more than 1,000 movies and video selections, with select pay-per-view titles available for $3.99 per movie.
Vongo, which will allow members to download movie and video selections to three eligible devices of their choice per account, utilizes the digital rights management system and media player software in Microsoft’s Windows Media platform to deliver its content. In addition to being standalone, Vongo will be delivered as part of Sony’s Connect Video service, to be launched later this year.
