Apple Starts Shipping AirPort Express

Apple today announced it has begun shipping AirPort Express, the world’s first 802.11g mobile base station that features wireless Internet connections and USB printing that can be used at home or onthe road to bring wireless freedom to hotel rooms with broadband connections. AirPort Express also features both analog and digital audio outputs that can be connected to a home stereo, and togetherwith AirTunes music networking software gives users a simple and inexpensive way to wirelessly stream music from iTunes on their Mac or PC to any room in the house. Apple has received more than80,000 pre-orders for AirPort Express, which was introduced last month.

“With over 80,000 pre-orders, AirPort Express is off to a great start as the first 802.11g mobile base station for Mac and PC users,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With the breakthrough AirTunes feature, music lovers can now listen to their iTunes music collection streamed wirelessly to a stereo located anywhere in their home.”

Apple Unveils AirPort Express For Mac & PC

Apple today unveiled AirPort Express, the world’s first 802.11g mobile base station that can be plugged directly into the wall for wireless Internet connections and USB printing, or thrown into alaptop bag to bring wireless freedom to hotel rooms with broadband connections. Airport Express also features analog and digital audio outputs that can be connected to a stereo and AirTunes musicnetworking software which works seamlessly with iTunes, giving users a simple and inexpensive way to wirelessly stream iTunes music on their Mac or PC to any room in the house. AirPort Expressfeatures a single piece ultra-compact design weighing just 6.7 ounces, and will be available to Mac and PC users starting in July for just $129.

“AirPort Express isn’t just the world’s first mobile 802.11g base station—with the addition of AirTunes users can now play their iTunes music on any stereo in their home—all without wires,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “This innovative Apple product will appeal to both notebook users who want wireless freedom in their hotel rooms and to music lovers who want to listen to their iTunes music library on a stereo located anywhere in their home.”

Sony releases VAIO PCV-W500GN1 desktop

The latest entry in Sony’s desktop PC family multiplies entertainment options in any room with a 17.5-inch wide format bright LCD, integrated DVD/CD-RW drive and Giga Pocket® personal video recorder. It has a small footprint and breathtaking design highlighted by a white aluminum finish and acrylic accents.

“This is big screen entertainment for a small space,” said Hideyuki Furumi, director of VAIO desktop marketing for Sony Electronics. “Time-shift your TV viewing; edit your own photos, music or video; and output your creative projects to CD or DVD — all in the fraction of the space needed for an old 15-inch CRT.”
