Dell Unveils New Mobile Workstations

Dell last week unveiled two new high performance laptops which are targeted towards professional workstation users and make use of Intel Core Duo processors. The new Dell Precision M90 and Dell Precision M65 have starting prices of $2,239 and $1,849 respectively and are available now.

The Precision M90 and Precision M65, said Dell, sport a range of features designed to satisfy the needs of engineers, artists, developers and other like minded professionals. The M90’s feature set, depending upon configuration, can include up to 512MB of Nvidia Quadro FX OpenGL graphics, up to 4GB DDR2 memory, a 17” display with up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution and DVI/SVGA video outputs.

ATI Delivers New Mobile Workstation GPU

ATI today said they were introducing their next generation mobile workstation graphics accelerator technology in the form of the new Mobility FireGL V5200. This new GPU will first be available in the Lenovo ThinkPad T60p.

The Mobility FireGL V5200, said ATI, offers up a lower power design which is certified for professional 3D applications such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Maya. Features include 256MB of memory, 12 pixel shader processors and five vertex shader units to drive complex models and assemblies.

IBM and HP choose ATI’s Mobility FIRE GL

ATI Technologies Inc. today announced that the MOBILITY FireGL T2 mobile workstation processor has been chosen by IBM for its Thinkpad R50p and T41p mobile workstations and by HP Compaq for theirmobile workstation nw8000.

For the first time, mobile workstations can deliver stunning graphics performance that rivals many desktop-class workstations. Nvidia’s nForce3 Professional in production

ASUSTeK Computer Inc, a world leader in motherboard engineering and design, has commenced shipping its new SK8N motherboard, featuring the NVIDIA nForce3 Pro 150 platform processor, to distribution channels and system integrators worldwide.

Dell releases new Precision M60’s notebook

The Dell Precision M60’s 128MB NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700 graphics accelerator delivers richly detailed images to the 15.4-inch UltraSharpTM  wide-aspect display, which allows users room for large designs & assemblies, multiple windows or expansive tool palettes. Graphics performance is a strong suit of the M60, with workstation-class OpenGL hardware acceleration and certifications on the leading computer-aided design and digital content creation applications.
