Windows Vista Week 2: The Week of FUD

We are now in the second week of the Windows Vista launch and the FUD (Fear Uncertainly and Doubt) being spread by those that compete with Microsoft is reaching amazing proportions. Apple, in their Mac vs. PC campaign is taking all kinds of shots at the system and wound up getting Bill Gates so excited he actually called Steve Jobs a liar in a NewsWeek interview. The campaign does say some questionable things which we’ll explore at another time but let’s check how the Vista launch month is going.

XM Satellite Teams Up With Nissan Motors

XM Satellite Radio has announced that Nissan North America, Inc., has chosen XM to supply satellite-delivered data and telematics services, such as in-vehicle messaging and XM NavTraffic, whichdelivers current traffic information to properly equipped Nissan and Infiniti vehicle navigation systems.

“Nissan’s choice to expand its relationship with XM in this important area of data services and telematics capabilities represents a major milestone for our company,” said Hugh Panero, CEO and President of XM Satellite Radio. “XM has dedicated significant resources to the development of XM NavTraffic and other automotive data capabilities over the last two years,” Panero said.

XM Satellite Radio Tops 3M Subscribers

“We are very pleased to announce that XM recently exceeded the 3.1-million-subscriber mark, which was our goal for the end of year,” said Hugh Panero, President and CEO of XM Satellite Radio.”Holiday shoppers bought XM radios in record numbers, reinforcing XM’s significant market leadership position in satellite radio.”

New Boombox Incorporates Satellite Radio

XM Satellite Radio today announced the introduction of the Audiophase SKYBOX – the industry’s first integrated portable satellite radio boom box.

The SKYBOX is the first product to include an XM Satellite Radio receiver, AM/FM tuner and CD/MP3 player in a single device. The SKYBOX will be available to Best Buy customers this fall in time for the 2004 holiday season, with an expected MSRP of $199.00.

“Best Buy is thrilled to offer SKYBOX, an innovative way to listen to satellite radio,” said Best Buy’s Mike Manske, Business Team Leader of Mobile Electronics. “We are excited to once again bring a first-of-its-kind product to meet our customers’ evolving technology needs.”

XM Radio Develops Portable Audio System

The PlayDockXM is outfitted with a flexible docking station that allows rapid connection or removal of the Delphi XM Roady radio. The PlayDockXM has a built-in handle so that it can easily be carriedfrom location to location. It also comes with a built-in XM Antenna and AC adapter.

The PlayDockXM is the first satellite radio product with a built-in rechargeable battery. The rechargeable power source provides over ten hours of playtime, allowing cord-free use in a variety oflocations throughout the day. In addition to its two main stereo speakers, the PlayDockXM has an extra bass speaker for outstanding bass response.
