Creative Pushes Zen Player to 32 GB

It’s probably impossible to set hands on one of these in time for the end-of-year holidays, but Creative is now officially offering a 32 GB version of its flash-based Zen media player. The credit-card sized players feature a 2.5-inch LCD display, battery life offering up to 30 hours of music playback (or five hours of video), and an organizer feature that can sync with Microsoft Outlook calendars, contacts, and tasks.

As a media player, the Zen supports MP3, WMA, unprotected AAC, WAV, and Audible 2/3/4 audio formats, along with Motion JPEG, WMV9 and (with transcoding) MPEG 1/2/4, DivX 4/5, and XviD video. The unit will also happily display JPEGs, GIFs, TIFFs, PNGs, and BMP files, so you can wow your friends with snapshots and other images.

Creative Releases Upgraded Zen Stone

Creative Releases Upgraded Zen Stone

Creative’s Zen Stone music player made waves in early May when it brought 1GB of storage and a tiny design to the portable media market for $40. But for some, the device’s Spartan screenless style and limited storage may have been a little too much to sacrifice, even for the price. For that crowd, Creative has introduced a spruced up version of the Zen Stone that keeps the price down but adds a few more creature comforts.

Creative Debuts Tiny Zen Stone Music Player

Creative has apparently decided it doesn’t live in a glass house: today, the company announced a tiny new digital music player dubbed the Zen Stone, due to hit retailers in six colors on May 14 at a suggested price of just $39.99.

Creative Brings on Zen Speakers

Creative has introduced three new speaker systems for its Zen line of portable media players, including compact speakers for traveling, a small bookshelf system, and a subwoofer-equipped music station with the company’s X-Fi technology, which promises to take MP3s and other compressed audio “beyond than CD quality.”

First up, the TravelSound Zen V docking speakers supports Creative’s Zen V and Zen V Plus players, offering four 36mm NeoTitanium microdriver speakers with a wide stereo effect featre which enables the system to simulate a wider field of sound. The system runs off either a power adapter or four AA batteries (which provide up to 25 hours of music playback); users can charge and load up their player while their Zen player is docked with the speakers. The TravelSound Zen V will be available for $129 online.

Creative Introduces Slim Zen Neeon 2

Creative Introduces Slim Zen Neeon 2

Lately Creative might be best-known for getting bushwhacked by a series of patent infringement lawsuits from Apple after threatening the iPod with its so-called “Zen Patent.” But, you know, the company also makes these things called portable music players, and today it introduced the slim and sleek Zen Neeon 2, which proves the company doesn’t intend to stand still which it engages in what might be years of painful patent litigation with the Cupertino Mafia. And even better: Creative’s making a set of four Stik-On skins available for the Neeon 2 so you can customize the look of the player to match your style—so long as that style is Hip-Hop, J-Pop, Punk Rock, or Classical.
