I concur with others who see OneCare as the solution to a longstanding performance problem with various versions of Windows. I have installed OneCare for my family on five separate (and some distant) PC's. They all run smoothly on OneCare with no problems. Recently I installed IE8 on my HP laptop (Vista) and it runs just fine as well. Microsoft is on the right track.

                OneCare

There is no repair function with OneCare so how good is this package. It lets Tojon download.delf spread thru my system until a reboot is required

I am with David, memory usage is really the big kicker with me. Most programs just suck it all up, and that's when they are in idle mode.

I agree that Microsoft is trying to do the right thing with their OneCare product. I'm hesitant to use it since I've come to confide in AVG Security Suite as my preferred AV Software due to the lack of resource hogging as stated above in Norton and McAfee products. I hope to one day switch to LiveOneCare as the potential is limitless.

You are right Trend Micro does nice work, I run into them more on the corporate side than the consumer side but they have a solid offering regardless. Iâ??ve had a different experience with OneCare, particularly after the last update and personally prefer it, but my piece was more focused on how OneCare should help Microsoft touch more customers and better address their image and customer satisfaction issues. It wasnâ??t intended to be a comparison between security offerings. Another very nice offering comes from Kaspersky Labs; these folks have always impressed the heck out of me.

Thanks for posting!
My experience with Microsoft OneCare was nto good at all. I found the program actually slowed down my system, was running and updating way too much, plus it's virus definitions were not as up-to-date as the other programs out there. But I agree that a more integrated approach would be better for the OS.

Norton software is a nightmore that locks down your system and makes it unusable. It's bloated and handicaps other software that's installed. McAfee is the same way.

I have found TrendMicros PCCillian works the best. It's non-intrusive, runs silently in the background and is updated often.
