I'll take neither. I think that Samsung's upcoming Q2 (or Q1 Ultra) is the UMPC to beat!

OQO all the way, it's stylish and to me would seem more powerful. Who wants a portable version of Vista? The requirements are hefty for the PC, let alone a handheld portable.

I don't think it's really fair to call the Flipstart a 2nd generation machine since it's the first one they are shipping. The market hasn't had a chance to evaluate it till now making it a first generation machine trying not to look like it..

I'll think the OQO does a better job but you didn't mention which had more screen resolution and if either was viewable in the sunlight, something important to me as a traveling device..

You know, I have heard rumors that Apple is working on a flash-based laptop, perhaps that would compete with these two devices? Now that has to move some eye brows eh? :)

Well, for $2K, you can buy a nice laptop AND an iPhone and you are covered. You are spending the money here for the size, and I simply think both the OQO and Flipstart are ahead of their time.

The Flipstart still looks way too bulky for me, although I like that it runs Vista. I didn't like the OQO that much, but noticed that's its being used in a lot of shows (like Las Vegas) and it's growing on me. I still would prefer a full featured phone that does what the OQO does though. I am just not hot on using a QWERTY keyboard for typing.
