I have several questions regarding digital home.

1.	Why is it so hard to look for someone who can assist customers in fixing their digital home problems?
2.	If PC is considered as future entertainment hub of the home, how can we minimize the problem brought about by the impossibility and the difficulty of PC first set in the bedroom when it?s more entertaining in the living room.
3.	What can you say about household problems such as password distribution problem and failure in connective any device?

What I?m trying to say is that any thing that is expected to be successful and embraced by the public should be made accessible and with minimum problems. I really home digital home infrastructures are made in this manner.
I sometimes wonder how far into the realm of science-fiction the technological advances of tomorrow will continue to move. I know that so many people are just ?jonesing? for the next techno fix, but I think that sometimes we have to simply go, ?alright, enough is enough?, I live a decent life, I?m happy with who I am and where I?m going in the world and I don?t need so much advanced technology to try and make me feel better. That being said, I do think that sometimes it is good for technology to get out into the world and help us through our daily lives. I just feel that doing so for sheer entertainment value twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, is not a good way to live one?s life. Especially because I think that a lot of people will want to finance themselves to the gills in order to buy that $100,000 dollar system because it happens to be the same as the one Lucas uses.

I suspect that Steve Jobs' keynote at MacWorld will make this entire article moot. iTV ? or whatever it will be called ? WILL work with portable devices (or at least with the only ones that matter), and you could buy 30 of them for the "budget" price of $10,000 that Kaleidescape wants for its "value" version.

Back in 1998 before many people even really started to think about digital homes, I had a friend who had pieced together a kit that could play movies, game roms, and music on the two TV's in his apartment. Selection of media was about as easy as picking a movie or Game when you are traveling and staying in a hotel complete with cover art. His system has evolved over time to the point where it handles the Phone in house, cable TV viewing, home automation and other functions. This is all cobbled together with hardware found here and there and open source or free software. The point isn't that he used open source or free software to do this. The point is that he has done it and created a system that handles many household functions easily. Thankfully in your article you never said that home automation is not yet here. However, you never really get around to pointing out that much of what consumers constantly have to wait for has already been.

You have a large soap box and instead of consistantly being happy with feature poor products why not point out that what many companies are telling us to wait for or to pay exorbitant prices for, has already been done.

Roy, You say to the writer "Rob, I choose to ignore everything you publish...especially when it involves your client Microsoft." Like your "outing" him or something, but did you even read the article that you linked to? You must be an idiot if that article moved you enough to "ignore" the most quoted technology analyst on the planet. Even stated in the same article is written "The funny - or sad - thing is that the paper doesn't come close to following its own advice. Just days after banning Enderle from discussing Microsoft because he has Microsoft as a client, the Times quoted Gartner analyst Michael Silver and AMR Research analyst Jim Murphy in a story about Microsoft's Windows and Office software.
Why don't you read the article again and restate your point, because I can't understand the point your trying to make. Try sticking to the topic next time.

Two more dark horses, Rob: Verizon and AT&T. I visited Verizon a few months ago and found they've got much of the functionality you discuss running in the lab. As the controllers of bandwidth, these two players may have a lot to say about how it's used.

From their site:
"MythTV is a homebrew PVR project that I've been working on in my spare time. It's been under heavy development for almost four years, and is now quite useable and featureful."
Really, you sound pretty dumb. I would prefer a conversation about the topic over listening to you bash the writer for dumb reasons. If Microsoft is a client of his, they should fire him, because he certainly did not do any favors for them with this article.
