I used to be a Vonage customer too. Not any more. I don't see why should I pay if I can use Skype. And I do - I switched to Skype. I bought a SkypeIn number and buy SkypeOut minutes (2c per minute) - my spending is about 4-6$ per month. I bought wireless Linksys Skype CIT200 phone and never look back. That's the way to go.

I have heard terrible things about Vonage from bad customer support, to old equipment to poor clarity. I would seriously read the reviews on the web before purchasing.

I have been a Vonage customer since July 2004. I can not be more happy with the decision. I have probably called their customer service only 2 or 3 times since I have joined. All of these times were within the first few months of joining. My Caller ID would randomly stop reporting. The first few times they told me to power cycle my box, but the last time they sent some update to the box and it's been fine since. I did have more problems with the recommended setup of having the box between the cable modem and my router. I now have the box after my router and it works flawlessly. I love the service and am constantly recommending it to folks and sending out referrals.
