Does anyone know how regular HD TV looks on a panoramic TV? My guess is that it would look pretty bad, or possibly have bars on the side. The only way I see panoramic TV's taking off is when people buy them for the sole purpose of movie viewing. Even video games would probably look poor on them.

None of this will make a current TV obsolete. And when would normal TV stations begin broadcasting in Cinematic proportions? Never.. which means to see normal TV, you'll still be wasting space. This is a non issue.

Seriously? You see panoramic TVs as an advantage by preventing letterboxing on movies, even though they will cause crazy pillarboxing on TV shows?

And on a more general point about your entire topic, I think you are too caught up in trade show hype, and not looking at the real world where a tough economy is making people re-think their need to constantly upgrade perfectly good technology they already own.

Its fun trying to get people to WAIT.
There are so many things happening that waiting is best.
Things are Starting to settle down. But NEW is still coming.
I pity those person 3-5 years ago, that made the FIRST purchases. Those sets are ending there life at this time. for that $5000 set, you now are going to pay again.
I wont even go to the HIGHER res screens that are coming out that make 1080p seem small.
