To say that it’s “better” than the PS3 because it has “double the specs” is pitifully uninformed. I won’t bother delving into architectural problems, but I will be blunt: You are Wrong. Conversely, anyone saying the same thing about PS3 is also wrong; Just learn to accept the fact that you nothing about how the hardware really works. In reality, despite the glitz and glam of these “revolutionary” multi-core processors (New as of 2001, that is) The real key is going to in part be the coders for the games. Will they take advantage of everything the system has to offer? Will they properly schedule their threads to execute fast? In this, we shall see. They didn’t do it for the PS2, but with multiple systems coming out with multiple cores, it’s a damn good time to start. The second issue at hand is the power of the graphics core. In this case, I have to admit, the PS3 is far ahead. This new chip, XENOS is actually in the same position that Sony was aready in. To put it simply, there is simply not enough memory on this GPU to allow it to really work well. So KD, cut the stupid fanboyism; “bill gates”, you need to back up your claims with at least some kind of evidence (PS: Microsoft makes software not hardware); Xbox Freak you ALSO need to back up your claims (Hopefully wit something better than “More powerful than PSP”. It’s a HANDHELD you numbnut!) As EntombeD has said, it’s the software that determines if it’s good or not. After experiencing the software on all three current-gen consoles, I honestly HOPE the games are better on 360. HOPE, because the Xbox had not a single title I enjoyed. That’s -4. -2 for it not being out yet and another -2 for “selective backwards capability”. +1 for IBM processors. -1 for having the most annoying an uninformed fans.

I love my Xbox and have been watching the 360 for awhile with more than jnust detatched interest. I’m not going to pounce on one at xmas though, because the rule with any new console is ‘give it a year and see’.

Like some posters here have already said, the hardware specs can be breathtaking or dissappointing but in both cases what matters most is what the software developers will do with it once they’ve had a chance to play around with it properly.

I’ll still be watching after it’s release, and that’s when we see if any of the new consoles can cut it, handhelds included.

since i have an xbox im pretty biased (:P) but i like ps also. what im saying here though is i think xbox 360 will be better than ps3 (just my opinion) im not an xbox lover or ps3 hater or anything ( i m a nintendo hater though xD) but i like xbox and it suits me fine and i would like think that xbox 360 will be too. ps3 would be fine but i already have an xbox (which is much better than ps2) so id rather get a 360. ps3 might be better than 360 but xbox was much better than ps2 (no doubt). but as drafa has said it is very smart to wait a year to check it out and ask ur friends and to see if the price went down.

OK, I haven’t had the chance to play on it (dam UK release dates) but everyone who has that I know says it’s an Xbox with shinier graphics.

Personally, I’ll probably get one because it’s better than the anal rape Sony wuld give me (anti-piracy my ass) but to be honest, it doesn’t excite me.

I might just go with Nintendo on the basis it’ll be a lot cheaper to get and probably just as fun.

Especially because I won’t have an HDTV for ages…

So, who in the hell cares about the hardware if the games developers can’t take advantage. As for the first games

yeah they look good-on hdtv, but when I

went back and took a look at original xbox on hd and what do you know the graphics look about the same. So, if you want to go out there and waste 400$$$$ go for it. But I’ve got news for you don’t let the specs bull**** you games won’t look that much better especially without hd. It’s not all its chalked up to be. Its supposed to be next-gen, its not next generation sure specs are(at least in regard to anything out there at this moment PS: will change after ps3 launch)And oh look at the launch titles. There nothing revolutionary about these games, in fact I’ve already been informed by dumbass friend who bought one of these pieces of garbage that the machine is not stable. might have something to do with the emulator for running old xbox games. don’t know

Bottom Line-there is no reason to run out to your nearest store and buy this spec driven machine, there is know special lauch title exclusive to the xbox that will blow you away.and as for the window media center xp integation with the 360.Well, who gives a damn, who has media center anyway. This was just another market driven type thing.Give microsoft time to redeem themselves from this ****ty launch and maybe produce some so called revolutionary games.WEll I think that is it, oh and about this sleek sexy look, yeah its another box

two thumbs way up to microsoft for that. please save yourself some time and wait for something more “revolutionary” like the ps3 or even the nintendo revolution hence the name.DON’T BUY THIS MARKET DRIVEN PIECE OF ***.There I’m done! And for the games jumping to 60$$$$$(I guess thats because there so “next-gen”.

It’s still far too soon to decide if the Xbox 360 is a good console or not. At the moment it looks very pretty, but until we see some big games that can take advantage of those 3 IBM processors, I don’t see why anyone would pay such a large amount of money for it.
The reason Microsoft thinks they can make a console is because Sony did it and made a fortune of it. Personally I didn’t like the Playstation when it came out either. A consol has to prove it’s worth the money before I buy it. Still I wish I could get my hands on a Xbox 360 just to put it on ebay and get back more then double what its worth.

I have been looking at the xbox for a while now and has been looking great. As a playstation man, I havn’t preordered one (Wish i did) but I’m definetly wanting one. I went into virgin the other day and I went over to the consols and there was an actual xbox 360!!! It was amazing (played call of duty btw).

The specs look great and the gameplay is good too.

The only thing is, if you dont have a preorder, then you probly won’t get one til january, but go down to tesco or asda and they do first come first serve.

    Cheers

    PS I well recomend PGR3.

I was just grabbing the 360 because of enhanced graphics and games…but going through the dashboard and checking out all the stuff there, u have to give microsoft credit for making such a well organized system…any games supports custom soundtracks and songs which is awesome…if youre watching a movie and are signed on xboxlive u can talk to ur friend while still watching the movie….its all these little things that make this console nifty…i like the fact on the xboxlive market..if there is a game coming out you arent sure of, you can download demos and see how you like it. its a good system and a really good media enetertainment system too. i am an xbox fanboy but i got alot more than expected so thats why i gave it a 10

The capabilities of this machine are far greater than any console before and perhaps soon coming. i would highly reccomend this product for it’s genious online, media streaming, awesome power, and amzing graphics. Go for Call of Duty 2, Project Gotham Racing 3, and Quake 4. A truly outstanding machine.

I just want everyone to know that Emulation on the Xbox 360 sucks. I bought Ninja Gaiden Black and half of the options like story mode, difficulty settings etc are completely missing if you try to play the game on the Xbox 360.

Just a warning for those that think the emulation will be good. So if you think your older Xbox game will work 100% chances are it won’t.

First off, no one can judge the 360 because there ar no games made yet that push the system to its full capacity. I think Sony is going to be in for a shock. So far, the games are better than anything ever seen, and that’s barely pushing the machine. Sony’s blue ray disc capacity won’t make a bit of difference either except for piling movies on one disc, but they forgot that games will be more time consuming and expensive to make if they will take even partial advantage of blue ray technology. Sony is shooting themselves in the foot with this system as far as future development of software. It was sheer genius of Microsoft to use 3 custom processors so developers have plenty of room to push the system generation by generation of games. Sony and Nintendo CAN’T really know what to expect from the 360.

The core system unit looks good but is let down by having an enormous PSU (like two building bricks end to end) . In use the system is quite noisy making it not so good for listening to music or playing DVDs. The games so far seem OK but the original Xbox games were OK – was hoping for something really special. On the plus side – plays DVDs and music as well as displaying photos from USB drives – sadly not possible to attach an external hadrd drive via USB. Generally then a slight improvement on the original Xbox – but this costs way more.

The Xbox 360 has very good physical appeals. The design is nice and smooth and it just looks like a next-gen machine. Very powerful and excellent online play. However, it is a little noisy when playing GAMES. When it plays MUSIC or DVDS, it isn’t noisy at all. I’m trying to point this out since some of the reviews say the opposite. There aren’t that many games out there that pushes the 360′s specs to the limit YET, but Call of Duty 2 and PGR3 are still great games with next-gen graphics and gameplay. Overall the 360 is and will be a hard competitor for Nintendo’s Wii and PS3.

Make sure if you purchase this product to return it if anything happens before the warranty runs out. Microsoft requires $129 if it breaks in 4th month like my sons. My son is purging his life of MicroSoft and going back to PS2, at least he can play it. There is a well known hardware problem that they won’t own up to, so purchase this after checking carefully. The main hardware issue they have is on their xbox360 website. I encourage you to look at the forums that are out there about the xbox360 hardware.

Microsoft and their 360 have delivered on almost all their promises. They have made Xbox Live completely seemless, added Xbox Live Marketplace which has actually over-delivered on what was promised. Excellent. Xbox Live Arcade also has over-delivered on what was promised. Superb.

The console itself is very good with some excellent features such as the ability to stream music and video from your pc to your 360 (meaning: your hard drive doesn’t get clogged up with music and videos).

As for the talk of they have known hardware issues and they break….hogwash. Sure you can go to a game forum and see lots of complaints about it, but, there is nothing to suggest that these compliants are any more than 3-5% of all the 5+ million consumers who have bough a 360.

Very wide variety of games with a handful of superb next-gen games, and this holiday season is when games are really going to take off with the 360. 150 games by xmas 2006 with many hot next-gen games hitting the shelves between now and xmas.

Pricy? A little. But, compared to the upcoming PS3, it’s a great buy!

I originally didn’t want to get a Xbox360. I held out until about two weeks ago. When I saw Gears of War, I was amazed with the game graphics, then Lost Planet blew me away this past week.

I had been waiting for the PS3, but since the price is so much higher, and not very many good launch games I went and picked up a Xbox360. Although my first one died within 20 minutes of hooking it up (it wouldnt boot up, if it did, it would crash during setup) the second one I got is working flawlessly.

I’ve got gears, lost planet, viva pinata, and nba2k7. All are great!

Giving it an 8 since my first one was pretty much a brick and had to return it.

I have owned this machine for three months, although it did work well the first three months, it did die with the three light hardware failure issue. I find this to be ridiculous for a product that gets so little use. even worse I find out I am not alone and many other people are having the same problem over the years. They have not worked the Bugs out of this machine as mine was purchased 6/2007. Clearly they have no intention to fix the bugs because that would hurt the bottom line. I will think twice before purchasing another microsoft gtaming system meanwhile I am waiting for a box from microsoft so I can send it in for “free” repairs. Maybe thats whyh they call it x..box! Meanwhile I am going to go and buy my kids a Wii. I hope your listening Bill!

I’ve had my Xbox 360 since March 2006 with no issues. I use it in place of a separate DVD player, so it gets used 1-2 hours daily (I have small children that watch many movies). The system performs great, and I have a good time shooting friends in games ranging from G.R.A.W., Rainbow 6 Vegas, to Halo 2 & 3. Of course, I treat my box like the expensive piece of hardware it is. I would not take a server or PC and toss it in the back seat of my car to go to a LAN party. When it travels with us on vacation – because it is great brain candy for the kids – I take care to pack it in a sturdy case that doesn’t get tossed around. It has traveled over 3000 miles date across country.

I bought my 360 on 12/06 then in February I got the “red ring of death”…great. I called Xbox support and sent it in for repairs. Agitated but understanding I waited two months and finally I received another 360. After plugging in the new unit I tried to open the CD tray and it wouldn’t open. I fixed the problem with a screwdriver and then the door would open and close, needless to say I wasn’t very happy about needing to fix the replacement unit before I could play it. After about a month I got the “red ring of death” again and I am very unhappy with the quality of Microsoft’s flagship gaming system. If it would work I would love it because the graphics are awesome and library of games is better than the PS3, plus the 360 gets most games a month or two before the PS3 versions come out. I just wish Microsoft could get their $400 system would work.

I bought a 360 and being an older man, 50, I didn’t play it a lot like a teenager would, so I was very upset when I got the “red ring of death” (the hard drive failed). I sent it in to be repaired under warranty that came with the purchase and it was returned in about two months. After only about 15 more hours of off and on play, it failed again, the red ring of death. This time it had all four lights red not three like last time. Now x-box won’t fix it, even after they extended the warranty to three years because of the problems. The warranty only covers the three red lights, not four. Wow, I am now sitting on a $400.00 piece of garbage. Only after about a total of 45 or 50 hours of use. Don’t waste your money. Tell your friends.

Microsoft will not stand behind this product or tries to get out of the warranty. It is a flop and they have not, or will not fix it.

Received a repaired unit in two weeks time! Bought a second 360 Premium while waiting. (Who knew it’d come back so quick?) My new 360 is quieter and runs cooler. MS has dramatically improved the system and with a three year warranty, it can’t be beat.

The average time for the 3 red light repair is 1 month. The average amount of times to send in the console for the repair is 4 times. Microsoft sends out used repaired consoles in exchange for 3 red ring consoles. The repaired consoles come with a 3 year extended warranty, but the warranty is ONLY for the 3 red rings. I received my console back after the FIRST repair for 3 red lights. Within 2 months the console broke now with 4 red lights. Microsoft says the problem is not warrantable.

Everything you are allowed to do with the Xbox is great, customization, super graphics, online play is super fun, the live marketplace is nice too but the actual machine that allows you to experience these things SUCKS. I got the RRD, it took Microsoft 2 months to return; they sent me back a modded Xbox back .I played on it for about a month when I was kicked off of Xbox for having a modded Xbox. I could not see how it was modded though, nothing unusual. I kept calling them for about 3 days until they said that they investigated it and it wasn’t modded, now-a-days it runs like it is about to explode and I get disc read errors all the time.

I love my 360. Every one has complained about the RRD. I personally have never had this problem. Why? You need to keep it cool. Place it on a hard surface and dont stack anything around it. Then it’s fine.

Bought my 360 summer 07, lasted just over 1 year. Sent in for repair, took just over 2 weeks. Sent back refurb that broke after 10 minutes of play. Love xbox live, Love the graphics, Love the gameplay. But how can you sell a product with a major design flaw?

Possibly the greatest conole ever devised. While it fails in the department of integrated wi-fi and free multiplayer, the xbox strikes back with it’s sheer volume of quality games. From halo 3 to Gears of War 2, this system is loaded with good first person shooters. Fancy graphics? who needs them? Silly controller that is annoying to use? None of that here. A good console that will keep you playing.

Why is the XBox such crap when so much money gos in their pockets? I’ve never bought a Nintendo or PlayStation that had any problems. The moment I buy an XBox 360 so many unnecessary and unwanted problems happen. The market place has limited items. I thought I’d be getting a great deal for my money. If I wanted to play old games I would’ve kept my old systems and games. The most powerful company in the world can’t even provide a decent online experience. The only game worth playing is COD 4 and 5, if I could get good lag that is, PlayStation originals not surprisingly. Microsoft needs to get with the program. PS3 is beating you, what do you do about it, NOTHING. You better do something to keep your sales up. I already know 5 loyal XBox fans, who convinced me to go XBox, big mistake because they now all have PS3 and they slag XBox worse than I am or have. You’re losing customers, you should be alarmed.

Guys….This piece from MS is awesome..this gadget can also be used as a media server apart from its outstanding / greatest range of games available till date compared to any console.

I love streaming my Movies / Photos / Music to my XBox wirelessly..and above all I do this from MAC in Windows.

Good stuff to have around. It doesn’t just give you fun but also helps you to chat / check your emails seamlessly from XBox.

Above all the picture resolution is awesome, online gaming is cool.

I suggest all you folks out there..to go out and buy an XBox 360 w/o any confusion.

XBOX360 is the BEST GAMING CONSOLE AROUND…

If anyone is reading this and is thinking – should I buy an Xbox 360 or another console? – please, buy another console! I had a PS1 and PS2 and played them both to death and never had any problems with either. I haven’t played my 360 that much and already it is giving me problems. ‘Disc unreadable’ messages when the discs are pristine, and games just not starting up for unknown reasons. the disc drive is noisy as well. the games I have got all look fantastic – the graphics and sounds are amazing when they play. but the console is poor and I fully expect it to go kaput any time soon. It’s a new version bought in 2009 so I would have thought the initial glitches with the 360 would have been solved. with the profits microsoft make i would have expected them to have made a much better console. it looks good but acts like it’s comprised of very cheap components. I would never buy a microsoft console again. IMO the 360 is incomparable to the build quality and component quality of the PS1 and PS2. next time i am sticking with sony.
